I shrug my shoulders.

“If you say so then.”

“I'm happy for you. When the elders find out about this, they will advocate for Ashanti to be thrown out so you can take her place as Alpha Reagan's wife. It seems you'll finally get what you've been fighting for.”

“That's exactly what's going to happen.” I say that with all confidence.

I've gotten this far already, there's no way I'm going to lose to Ashanti.

A long moment of silence goes by and I'm buried in my thoughts. Now that I've told her about my pregnancy, it's about time I brought up the real reason why I sent for her.

“Nelly.” My voice is so small, I'm sure she heard only thanks to our heightened hearing abilities.

“Yes, Alina.”

“I need a favour from you.” My face is wiped clean of every emotion. Irritation boils in my chest when she chuckles.

“Why do you sound so tense, Alina? You know I'd do anything for you. You just have to name it.”

“What I want is uh… it's a bit of a difficult task. Dangerous even and you must not get caught.” Her brows crease. Fear grows on her face, but her zeal to serve me makes her swallow her fear and give me a confident look.

“Say it.”

“I need you to get me wolfsbane.” I announce and she's completely taken aback by my request. Her already wide eyes grow even wider as she gives me an intense, shocking gaze.

“Wolfsbane?” She asks, mortified. I nod my head. “That's a very dangerous substance and it's not commonly sold around. What do you want to do with it?”

Good question.

What do I want to do with the wolfsbane?

You will not imagine the horror I felt when I woke up one fateful morning, feeling dizzy and vomiting only to take a pregnancy test and find out I was pregnant. I cried all morning, cursing myself and almost giving up on my quest for Alpha Reagan because I had gotten pregnant for another man.

My first mission was to get Alpha Reagan to accept the pregnancy. Now that he has, it's just a matter of time before he lets me into his house. Once I'm in his house, I'll be able to seduce him again and get him to sleep with me.

That's where the wolfsbane comes in.

This child I'm carrying has to die so I can conceive Alpha Reagan's child when I finally have access to him.

Wolfsbane can be lethal to Werewolves, but taking a single sip will cause little damage like getting rid of an unwanted pup that's growing in one's womb.

“Trust me, I'm not up to anything bad.” I lie and she calmly nods her head.

“Alright then. I'll get you the wolfsbane. Just be careful with it okay, because that baby in your womb will be history if a single sip gets into your system.” I calmly nod my head.

“I promised to be careful.”

If only she knows that's the why I'm getting the wolfsbane in the first place.
