The Lost Heiress: Never Forgiven (Sierra Xander) novel Chapter 532

Chapter 532 A Dangerous Gamble

After Shane left, Jonathan kept his eyes lowered, deep in thought about something no one else could  guess.

Meanwhile, once Shane got into his car, he curled his lip. He’d done all he could–whether Jonathan made it out of this alive was entirely up to him now.

Not that he was trying to help Jonathan. He just didn’t like the way those people played their games. And more importantly, he didn’t like Victor.

When Shane returned, Jade summoned him to the study.

“You went to see Jonathan?”

Jade asked.

“Yeah.”

There was nothing to hide, so Shane gave a simple answer.

“What for?

Jade frowned. “Things are getting complicated. Don’t get involved.”

Shane replied coolly, “To mock him, obviously. What else?”

Jade didn’t question that. He knew just how petty Shane could be. Still, he warned, “Don’t go again. You don’t want them pinning the blame on you.”

Shane glanced at him. “You planning to make a move too?”

Jade didn’t answer. At their level, every decision had to be made with extreme caution.

Seeing his hesitation, Shane sneered. “No wonder you’ve never accomplished anything. You’re too scared to take a damn step.”

Jade was used to being flattered outside–no one had ever spoken to him like that. And the worst part was, it came from his own son. His eye twitched. “Just don’t cause trouble.”

Shane couldn’t be bothered to argue. As he left, he tossed over his shoulder, “If I were you, I wouldn’t do something stupid.”

Jonathan wasn’t someone you could easily deal with. And even if Jonathan died, would that really be the end of it?

Someone would still need to take the fall.

Shane wasn’t sure if Jade could see that far ahead. Back in his room, he couldn’t help but call Sierra.

He thought it would be like before, with the call never going through. But to his surprise, Sierra picked up almost instantly.

“Hello?”

Hearing her voice, Shane was momentarily stunned. It took him a moment before he spoke. Something happened to Jonathan. If you’re going to change your mind, now’s the time.”

In the past, Sierra would’ve been disgusted by words like that. But now, she didn’t feel anything

Ever since Shane had helped Jonathan catch White, she realized he wasn’t the person she thought he was.

Believe it or don’t,” Shane said, his mood turning oddly restless. “You’ll believe it when he’s dead.”

Shane didn’t bother calling again. He curled his lip in boredom and covered his eyes with one hand, as if going crazy for no reason.

“No way. They wouldn’t dare.”

“Exactly

The others chimed in. Touching Jonathan was the same as going to war with the Wynn amily. None of the factions would go that far.

Replacing Jonathan? Sure, that was possible. But killing him? No one would actually go that far.

As they kept debating, Sierra stayed–silent. She focused on staying calm, going over every possibility in her mind.

Eventually, as the group argued on, Sierra spoke up and cut them off.

“If he really does die, the people at the top will just accept it and move quickly to stabilize the economy

Everyone froze at her words.

They’d all been assuming that the person in power didn’t want Jonathan dead. But what if he did die

Would the country really be thrown into chaos for one man?

The thought made everyone suck in a sharp breath.

Chase frowned. “I’ll try to find a way to get Jonathan out.”
