The Lost Heiress: Never Forgiven (Sierra Xander) novel Chapter 526

The conversation ended there, with Sierra reminding Jonathan several times not to tell Mateo anything.

When Dickson left today, he said he would adjust his attitude and still treat Mateo like an older brother in the future. He didn’t want them to end up not even being friends.

With things said that way, Sierra could only agree.

This was something she couldn’t help with at all.

Since Sierra had spoken, Jonathan naturally nodded.

He hadn’t been home long when he suddenly got a phone call.

It was from overseas. Whatever was said on the other end made Jonathan’s expression change instantly.

"Victor’s business?" Sierra guessed.

Jonathan nodded. "Yeah."

He gave a cold laugh. "Victor just sent word claiming I’m his son."

Previously, Jonathan had met with several of Victor’s sons, and they had managed to strike a cooperation deal.

But now, with this news spreading, their collaboration was on the verge of falling apart.

"Here I was thinking he was just stupid. Turns out, he’s setting me up," Jonathan said.

No wonder Victor insisted on saying he was his son — a perfect move to divert trouble onto Jonathan.

"So what now?" Sierra frowned. Jonathan and Victor had made a bet for one month, and half that time had already passed.

Everything had been going smoothly. In the past two weeks, Victor’s sons had already managed to eat away at quite a bit of his power.

But now, with Victor suddenly releasing this news, Jonathan’s partnership with them might collapse.

"I’ll handle it."

Jonathan kissed Sierra. "Don’t worry about this. Just get some rest."

He had originally planned to come home early to spend time with her, but now he had to deal with this mess first.

Sierra knew she couldn’t help anyway. All she could do was take care of herself.

Over the next two days, Jonathan left early and came home late. Fortunately, his efforts paid off.

One of the Victor family’s largest ammunition depots was completely wiped out — courtesy of Jonathan, with White’s cooperation.

Jonathan had rescued White’s sister, and when White heard the news, he naturally offered a fitting reward.

This depot wasn’t just another supply line like the one destroyed before. This one dealt a major blow to Victor’s family.

When Victor got the news, he was furious.

Sierra heard it too and looked at Mateo. She could tell he was angry.

Dickson gave Mateo an awkward smile and quickly conceded. "Mateo, I was wrong."

"Hmph."

Mateo still snorted, but his expression softened.

He had always been generous, and soon enough, he let it go.

Even though he wasn’t overly sensitive, he could tell that Dickson wasn’t treating him quite the same as before.

No matter how he thought about it, he couldn’t figure out why, so he decided to ask Dickson directly.

"What did I do to you?"

"Huh?" Dickson was startled.

"You’ve known me long enough to know what kind of guy I am. I don’t play games or pretend. I say what I mean. So did I do something to offend you?"

Because of what had happened with Maddox, Mateo valued his friends a lot now.

"No!" Dickson quickly shook his head. "Mateo, you’ve always been good to me. How could you have offended me?"
