When Jared stepped out of the Pentacarna Tower, Morgana, Venerable Glacier, Master Wellspring, and Cloudspire were already waiting outside.
They had felt the terrifying spiritual turbulence from inside the tower and had stopped what they were doing long ago.
The moment Jared emerged, everyone held their breath.
Not because his cultivation had risen again, but because the aura around him had changed.
That wasn't an aura a True Immortal cultivator should have possessed. It had already gone beyond the True Immortal Realm itself, enough that even Morgana, a Golden Immortal Level Three, felt a flicker of pressure from it.
"True Immortal Realm Level Eight."
Morgana studied him, something complicated flashing through her amber eyes. "I've lived for tens of thousands of years, and I've never seen a True Immortal cultivator give off an aura like this. Jared... what kind of monster are you?"
Jared didn't answer.
He lifted his gaze to the sky. The three suns hung at the zenith together.
Gold, silver, and crimson light wove together, bathing Beastmoor Ridge in a breathtaking wash of red-gold.
Then his eyes shifted east, toward Pole Star Hall.
Toward the void passage.
"The envoys should be here soon," he said, his voice calm.
The words had barely left his mouth when a low roar rolled across the eastern horizon.
It sounded like countless bolts of thunder detonating at once across the sky—like the heavy breath of an ancient beast waking from its sleep.
A golden pillar of light shot up from the depths of Pole Star Hall, piercing the clouds, piercing the sky itself, and punching through the spatial barrier between the Seventeenth Firmament and the Eighteenth Firmament.
Inside that pillar of light, two figures descended from the heavens.
Both wore golden battle armor, their bodies wreathed in blazing saintlight flames.
Those flames were completely different from Venerable Starwick's holy radiance—purer, older, closer to the very source of the saintlight law.
Ancient war sigils from the Flame Deity Branch covered their armor, and every single sigil radiated the pressure of peak Golden Immortal Level Three.
Their faces were drowned in holy radiance, nothing visible but vague outlines.
Even that was enough to make a person feel like they couldn't breathe.
They came down onto the square in the ruins of Pole Star Hall, with corpses and shattered walls strewn underfoot.
All nine towers had already collapsed.
The saintlight flame had gone completely dark, the flagstones were soaked through with blood, and the air reeked of rot.
Pole Star Hall, which had dominated the Seventeenth Firmament for tens of thousands of years, had been reduced to nothing but rubble.
The envoy on the left slowly lifted his head, his eyes moving beneath the mask of holy radiance as he surveyed the ruins.
His gaze paused for an instant on every corpse, then swept over every broken wall and fallen stone.
Then he spoke, his voice cold as a poison-soaked blade.
“We’re late.”
The envoy on the right bent down and reached out to touch the dried golden blood on the ground.
It had already hardened into a dark-gold crust.
At the slightest touch, it shattered into powder.
“The battle ended only a few days ago. Pole Star Hall was truly wiped out.” His voice was steadier than his companion’s, but no less cold. “True Immortal Realm Level Seven? Or Level Eight?”
“Doesn’t matter what level. A bug from the Lower Realm cannot stand against the two of us together.” The envoy on the left straightened, holy radiance erupting from his body and flooding the ruins for hundreds of yards around them with light. “Find him. Kill him. Then rebuild Pole Star Hall.”
The two of them lifted their heads at the same time, their eyes piercing across a thousand miles of space and locking onto Beastmoor Ridge.
Then they turned into two streaks of golden light and shot toward Beastmoor Ridge at a speed beyond imagination.
