Countless broken stones were rolling down through the smoke and dust. The altar had already been reduced to rubble, and the bodies of 2 thousand Celestial Palace soldiers were sprawled everywhere in pools of blood.
And above those ruins, a golden figure stood with his hands behind his back, a black longsword in hand. His aura looked calm, but the pressure coming off him felt endless.
"Th-this... this is..."
Lucian's face went white on the spot, disbelief filling his eyes.
Lyria's eyes went wide too, and her body gave a slight tremor.
They had never seen Jared before, but they had heard the stories.
He had destroyed the Skyreach Path, killed the Grand Venerable, thrown Sacred Mountain into chaos, and now he had destroyed two Sacred Mountains in a row...
That name had long since become a nightmare to the Celestial Palace.
"It... it's Jared!"
Lyria cried out sharply, taking an involuntary step back.
Lucian clenched his teeth, and something dark flickered through his eyes.
Both of them were High Immortal Realm Level Nine. Both had always counted themselves among the strong. But staring at the scene in front of them—2 thousand Celestial Palace soldiers, two True Immortal Realm experts, and even a Ghost Clan Sacred Paragon on the verge of revival, all of them wiped out—they understood in an instant that they were nowhere close to being Jared's match.
"Go!"
Lucian made the call at once and spun around to flee.
Lyria didn't hesitate either and shot after him.
The two of them turned into streaks of light and fled desperately into the distance.
But they had barely flown 100 yards when a cold voice sounded right beside their ears.
"Since you're already here, why the rush to leave?"
Before the words had even fully settled, a golden figure appeared in front of them in a flash.
Jared stood there with his hands behind his back, looking at them with calm eyes.
Lucian and Lyria both went pale, their bodies shaking.
"Ja... Jared, there's no grudge between us. Why do you have to wipe us out?" Lucian said, his voice unsteady.
Jared looked at him. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly into a faint, mocking curve.
"No grudge?"
He repeated the words lightly and shook his head.
"Your Celestial Palace hunted me, put a bounty on my head, and revived Ghost Clan powerhouses to unleash disaster on innocent people. And you call that no grudge?"
Lucian had nothing to say.
Lyria gritted her teeth, then suddenly dropped to her knees. "Young Master Chance, I'm willing to submit. I'll be your woman. Please spare my life!"
Jared looked down at her. His eyes didn't move in the slightest.
"Be my woman?"
He repeated it softly, then gave a small shake of his head.
"You don't deserve that."
The words fell, and he lifted a hand.
The Dragonslayer Sword gave a light sweep.
Two golden sword blasts shot out in an instant.
Lucian and Lyria didn't even have time to react before the sword energy punched straight through the center of their foreheads.
Their bodies dropped from midair and slammed into the ruins below.'
After that, nothing moved.
Jared put the Dragonslayer Sword away without even sparing them a glance.
Only then did Luther and Grace dare to fly over from the distance.'
