The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 752

Sophia caught sight of Brandon’s frantic silhouette as he searched for her.

The door had been shoved open with such force, and his voice—calling her name, each time more urgent than the last—echoed down the hallway. Even without seeing his handsome face clearly, she could feel the worry and panic radiating from him.

She stepped quietly to the study’s doorway.

But Brandon, not expecting her to be in his study, rushed past without even noticing her. He checked every room, even flung open the bathroom door—twice—but never thought to look behind at the study doorway, where she stood all along.

He probably never expected her to enter his study without asking first. Even after searching every corner of the house, it would never occur to him that she’d be waiting for him there.

“Brandon.”

As he slammed the bathroom door shut and turned, about to search the balcony next, Sophia spoke softly, calling his name.

His hand froze mid-motion; he whipped around.

In an instant, the panic on his face faded completely.

She watched him let out a long breath, his expression settling back into its usual calm composure.

He glanced past her at the study, then turned his gaze on her. “Why are you home alone? Where are Theresa and Grace?”

“They went out,” Sophia replied quietly, meeting his eyes. “Where did you go today?”

“Business meeting,” Brandon answered, his voice softening as he studied her. “Did something happen?”

Sophia shook her head. “Nothing really.”

She hesitated, then asked, “Was it an important meeting? Theresa was just asking why you don’t take us with you anymore.”

Brandon nodded. “Yeah, it was important.”

He explained, “Negotiations like this can take a while—not something that’s wrapped up in an hour or two. If I brought you and Theresa along, you’d probably just get bored waiting around. Better to relax at home.”

Sophia nodded in understanding. “Okay.”

“But… if you’re not there, will it affect things at work?” she asked.

“It’s fine,” Brandon assured her, his eyes scanning her face, worry flickering in his gaze. “Sophia, what’s really going on?”

Sophia pressed her lips together, silent for a moment. She glanced at him, hesitating, then as if steeling herself, she stepped forward and wrapped her arms gently around him.

Brandon stiffened.

It was the first time she’d initiated an embrace—not just since their divorce, but even back when they were married.

Chapter 752 2

“If you don’t want to tell me, I’ll ask Theresa,” Brandon said softly. “She’s not very good at lying.”

Sophia had no choice but to meet his eyes. “We went to your office to look for you. But you weren’t there.”

Brandon’s brow furrowed.

With her personality, she wouldn’t have come looking for him—and insisted he come home—unless something had happened.

“Did Kent say something to you?”

He was quick to pinpoint the real issue; it was the only explanation for her odd behavior.

Sophia pressed her lips together, then nodded slightly.

Chapter 752 3

Brandon stared, a little stunned, taking in the redness in her eyes.

“Sophia… Are you really back?” His voice was hoarse.

You remember now, don’t you?
