The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 688

Brandon's silence made Sophia chuckle a bit.

“Never mind,” she said softly. “If they want to find me, they’ll come looking eventually.”

After all, someone as noticeable as her showing up was bound to catch some eyes sooner or later.

Brandon grinned back, nodding in agreement. “Alright.”

His gaze lingered on her, though, and he affectionately ruffled her hair.

Sophia couldn’t help but laugh. “The way you’re looking at me and doing that makes me feel like my past wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows.”

Brandon didn’t hide the truth, nodding gently. “Yeah, it was a bit tough.”

“Oh, I see.” Sophia smiled again, not really pressing for the details behind those words, nor did she seem to care much about them.

Brandon smiled too, saying nothing more.

Seeing that she wasn’t dwelling on it, he felt a little relieved and maybe even a bit thankful for her memory loss.

The world after amnesia is like a blank slate. Losing memories meant losing the emotions tied to them too.

Probably the best silver lining to her memory loss.

Sophia printed out the finalized design plan for the science museum, organizing and binding it as she said, “I’ve got a meeting with President Poe about the design plan at lunch. You can go ahead and handle your work. I’ll take Theresa for a little sightseeing in the morning.”

“No worries, my schedule is pretty light,” Brandon replied. “I haven’t had a chance to hang out with Theresa in a while. It’ll be nice to join you both.”

Sophia felt a bit awkward. “But I have to discuss business with President Poe in the afternoon. Won’t your presence affect his decisions?”

After all, he’s the big boss behind the scenes. If he decides something, President Poe might not feel comfortable suggesting any revisions.

“Don’t worry about it, President Poe is more focused on practicality for the students. He won’t hold back his opinions,” Brandon assured her, glancing over the design, “And I doubt he’ll have any issues with it.”

Being alumni from West District High, they knew exactly what the science museum needed.

Sophia hesitated but nodded. “Okay, then.”

She added, “The restaurant President Poe chose is near the office. Maybe I should just take Theresa to the company, so you can get some work done first.”

Yesterday, after an impromptu client meeting, he’d taken her and Theresa home for a rest.

She felt guilty about interrupting his schedule again today.

Seeing her concern, Brandon didn’t push the issue and nodded. “That works.”

Having been to the office yesterday, Sophia felt a bit more at ease returning. To avoid unnecessary attention, she and Theresa stayed in the lounge area instead of following Brandon into his office.
