The Heiress’ Return: Six Brothers at Her Beck and Call (Wynter Quinnell) novel Chapter 1887

When Wynter spoke up for the two women, the gazes around her ranged from approval to indifference to outright disgust.

She was beginning to understand why people said this place had ruined fortunes and was easy for resentment to fester. Hearts were poisoned, loyalty and treachery indistinguishable, all compounded by malicious attacks.

What Judy had said wasn't baseless. It had simply been taken out of context and was twisted with ill intent.

Wynter didn't linger long. Once in the car, Delmar sighed heavily. "Havenia's situation is complicated. In the early years, many people smuggled themselves in to give birth here to access the benefits.

"Later, it was for job opportunities. Finance and law—everything here is more developed, especially with its international legal framework. Its better pay and perks attracted talent, and over time, it created immense pressure on the locals.

"Aside from that, every inch of land in Havenia is worth a fortune. Some people live in rooms smaller than 215 square feet. It's only natural that resentment would build up over time."

The issues Delmar described might sound convoluted to some, but Wynter understood them perfectly. All conflicts stemmed from interests. However, these conflicts shouldn't breed hatred. After all, once hatred took root, there would be no winners in economic development.

This held true in business, let alone for ordinary people.

Delmar gazed out the window. "It wasn't as bad in previous years, but this year, for some reason, the public reaction has been unusually intense."

Wynter's voice was calm. "Because someone's fanning the flames."

Lush greenery stretched before them. This was one of Havenia's advantages. It had a vibrant city center, grand mansions, and was near Vidorra Port.

The Maynerds' estate was an imposing villa and a relic of old-world prestige. This area wasn't accessible to ordinary vehicles. Guards stood watch far in advance, inspecting every license plate and even searching car trunks. Everyone entering or leaving was subject to scrutiny.

Today, there were more cars than usual, likely due to the Maynerds' recent search for a cultivator. Logically, a family like theirs would handle such matters discreetly. But clearly, their situation had grown dire enough to abandon all caution, hence the conspicuous commotion.

Fortunately, with the upcoming Arcane Way Forum in Havenia, many cultivators had gathered from all over the country. Among them were practitioners from Solmere and Foplya, each representing different beliefs.

In this crowd, Delmar and his group were the least noticeable. After all, nearly every cultivator entering the estate was on par with Kaspar.
