The Heiress Acts Mischievously, But Her Family Can Read Her Mind novel Chapter 423

Chapter 423: Chapter 422: Is it a very shameful thing to like someone?

He didn’t want to go on about this topic.

Fang Minghe told Jiang Nanshu about the shooting schedule, and asked her to sign a contract as the spokesperson for his company’s jewelry line, also gifting her a set of gemstone necklaces.

After the time was settled, Jiang Nanshu prepared to leave.

The next moment, the door behind them opened.

Jiang Nanshu turned her head and saw two people enter. She blinked, "Duan Huaiyu? Sister? What are you doing here?"

Duan Huaiyu also didn’t expect to run into Jiang Nanshu here again.

He suddenly realized the world was pretty small; he always seemed to bump into her.

A faint smile curled up on Duan Huaiyu’s lips, softening his strong features quite a bit, "I have a partnership with Mr. Fang’s company and came here to confirm the contract. What about you, Miss? What brings you here?"

Sipping her milk tea, Jiang Nanshu smiled at Duan Huaiyu, "What a coincidence, I’m here to sign a contract too. Looks like we’ll be colleagues from now on."

Colleagues...

This seemed like the closest he had ever been to the Miss.

His smile had yet to deepen when Jiang Leyi spoke up, "Nannan, you’re pregnant. How can you still drink such sugary milk tea! It’s not good for your health."

Jiang Nanshu licked her lips, "It’s okay, I’ll only drink it once and definitely won’t do it again."

Jiang Leyi glared at Jiang Nanshu, then turned to Fang Minghe.

He directly passed the blame, "Your brother ordered it. If you want to blame someone, blame him, I didn’t know."

So Jiang Leyi immediately called Jiang Yisen and gave him a good scolding.

Duan Huaiyu’s smile gradually faded, and he stood there with his head lowered.

Out of the corner of her eye, Jiang Leyi gave him a glance, her red lips slightly pursed.

She then looked at Jiang Nanshu, "I’m going to discuss a partnership with Mr. Fang. Nannan, shall we have lunch together later?"

Jiang Nanshu thought for a moment and replied, "Sure, I’ll wait for you outside first; it’s too stuffy in here."

Jiang Leyi nodded, "Okay."

As Jiang Nanshu walked to the door, a message popped up on her phone. She raised an eyebrow, then quickly replied.

After she left, Duan Huaiyu handed his part of the contract to Fang Minghe. As he was turning to leave, Jiang Leyi grabbed him, her expression cold, "Wait for me at the door for a while. I have something I want to talk to you about."

Duan Huaiyu gave her a cool look and nodded slightly, agreeing to wait.

Ten minutes later, Jiang Leyi came out of the office.

Duan Huaiyu was sitting on a chair outside, scrolling through his phone.

Seeing Jiang Leyi emerge, he turned off his phone screen and stood up.

"Let’s go." Jiang Leyi passed by him without stopping.

Duan Huaiyu silently watched her for a moment, put on his mask, and followed behind her.

His tall stature lent an inexplicable sense of security when he stood behind others.

Once inside the elevator,

Jiang Leyi watched the changing floor numbers and finally spoke slowly, "You like my sister."

It wasn’t a question, but a statement of fact.

Duan Huaiyu stared straight ahead and after a long while, gave a soft grunt in acknowledgment.

Jiang Leyi couldn’t help but laugh, "I thought you would deny it."

After all, the difference in family backgrounds was there for all to see. Most people wouldn’t dare to admit they liked a Miss like Jiang Nanshu.

With his mask on, Duan Huaiyu’s expression was unclear, but his eyes were calm and his voice deep, "Why deny it? Is liking someone something to be ashamed of? I don’t think so. Liking someone doesn’t mean I have to feel inferior."

He would only strive to become better.

Having a goal to work towards was his motivation, even if that goal was something he could only look up to. But since he had once enjoyed the warmth of the light, Duan Huaiyu felt no regret.

She gave a wry smile, and the little flutter in her heart faded away.

She looked up at the vast blue sky outside.

She could finally accept the arranged marriage her family had set up for her with peace of mind.

She was quite lucky to have a wealthy family and loving relatives.

But she never had a person with whom she truly connected and loved deeply.

Not now, and perhaps not in the future.

In life, one gains some and loses some.

Jiang Leyi calmly accepted her fate.

She was fortunate enough already.

She took out her phone and replied to Zhou Zhenghui: "Dad, I agree to the arranged marriage."

...

Outside of Fang Group.

Jiang Nan sat on a bench in the green space.

Yang Jiashu arrived, sweating profusely, and upon seeing Jiang Nan, he anxiously asked, "Nanshu, have you seen Xu Xi recently? Why isn’t she responding to my messages?"

Jiang Nan shook the bottom of her nearly empty milk tea cup, feeling a bit heartbroken.

Sigh, once it’s finished, who knows when she’ll be able to have milk tea again. Her life was tough.

Hearing Yang Jiashu’s voice, she looked up at him, her almond eyes wide, "No? Xixi just replied to my message not long ago, asking if I wanted to have dinner with her tomorrow."

Yang Jiashu was stunned, then he finally relaxed, "It’s good if there’s nothing wrong. Then why isn’t she replying to my messages? I’ve been worried for several days. I went to her company but didn’t see her. Her boss said she’s on leave..."

Jiang Nan finished the last bit of her milk tea and smiled at Yang Jiashu, "Don’t worry, Xixi is in love. She’s spending time with her boyfriend."
