The Heartless Ex-Wife novel Chapter 4

Chapter 4 The Mistaken Kid

The car suddenly sped up. Eliezer’s voice was wrapped in the roar of the wind outside. You’re in a hurry?

What did he mean she was in a hurry?

She wasn’t. No one had spent their youth waiting for her.

She shook her head, her expression serious. You’re the one who should be in a hurry.

Eliezer’s lips curled slightly, and the car gradually returned to a steady pace. I’m not in a hurry.

Lindsey didn’t see this coming.

She simply stopped talking.

After all, she had already signed the divorce papers. Tonight she would settle things with the Oconnells, and from now on, she’d have nothing more to do with them.

Half an hour later, the car stopped outside the Oconnell’s villa.

Over the years, the Oconnell and Woodward families had formed business ties. Many were eager to flatter them. The luxury cars parked outside had nearly filled up every available space.

She got out of the car. The night wind nearly made her shiver. When she looked up, the man in a suit was already walking toward the lawn set up with wine and music. Lindsey had no choice but to lift her dress and followhim.

The guests all turned to look, their eyes drawn by Eliezer.

Roses surrounded the beautiful woman playing the piano. Piles of gifts stood beside a fivetier cake. The lights and the gazes of the crowd all followed Eliezer’s footsteps as he walked toward Jaclyn.

It looked just like a scene from a dreamy romantic drama.

Lindsey knew better thanto approach themnow. Shehad already slowed her steps, trying to blend into the crowd.

But before she could slip away, Eliezer suddenly stopped and looked back

at her.

Just when the plot reached its climax, it was suddenly interrupted by a

commercial

And Eliezer didn’t think there was anything wrong. He frowned slightly at Lindsey standing outside the crowd. Come here.

All the guests turned their eyes toward Lindsey.

Who’s that? Looks kind of familiar, but I can’t place her.

How could you forget? She’s that mistaken daughter. Shegot thrown away by her biological ones. The Oconnell family was kind enough to raise her. And what did she do? She stole Jaelyn’s fiancé! Absolutely disgusting!

Oh, right! Isn’t she the one who got sent abroad by Mr. Woodward on the day of their wedding? And she still has the nerve to come back? If I were her, I’d have jumped off a building long ago. What a disgrace! Such bad luck!

Whispers rippled through the crowd, all of them looking at Lindsey withcontempt.

The voices weren’t loud, but Lindseyheard every word clearly.

Chander i The Mutawan Kid

She stood there steadilyas if deaf to the insults, making no move to walk

toward Eliezer.

Jaelyn, who had been playing the piano, had already risen when Eliezer spoke. She walked over gracefully. Lindsey, when did you return? Why didn’t you tell us?
