The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 349

Sam's expression was one of stubborn determination as he approached us. The smile on his lips made it seem as if he had already received news of Lorraine's divorce.

"Lorraine, this man has already been with another woman. Do you remember the night he stayed out to talk business with Fabian? Don't you want to know what he was really doing?" Sam deliberately provoked Lorraine.

Lorraine's face was getting paler, and Sam had an expression of glee on his face. "Lorraine, listen to me."

"Sam, don't cross the line here." Considering Lorraine's condition, I didn't want to argue with Sam in public.

"Let's look for somewhere quieter," I said.

"I refuse," Sam retorted.

He shook off my hand and said in a pleased manner, "You're afraid, aren't you? So, you can feel fear too. Cole, aren't you scared that I'll spill all the dirty things you've done outside?"

His words were growing more and more outrageous as he laughed creepily.

"Get lost!" I shouted.

He was like a drunkard who wouldn't listen to reason.

There was no reason to be patient when talking to someone like him. I was glaring at him coldly, but Sam continued his antics and circled around us. He was dancing around with glee.

Lorraine was so terrified by his behavior that she didn't even care if she was Gerald's daughter for a moment. She curled into a ball and wrapped her arms around my waist, burying her face in my chest.

"Cole, what's wrong with him?" Lorraine asked.

Even though it was her brother, Lorraine couldn't bring herself to speak too harshly. But the panic on her face wasn't something that could be faked.

"Don't be scared," I reassured her.

Sam was no longer acting like a normal person. I gently put my hand on Lorraine's shoulder to comfort her as my expression grew darker.

"Did you call Murphy?" I asked.

"Yes," Lorraine said into my shoulder. I could feel her nod, and my arm tightened around her.

I was worried that an accident would happen from the shock, so I kept one arm around her waist and covered her ears with the other.

He was crazy. Sam was no longer the brother she knew.

Lorraine's fearful gaze completely enraged Sam. He shouted as he stormed toward her, "What's with that look? Are you scared of me?"

I extended an arm to block his path, pressing my hand against his chest.

In just a few days, Sam seemed to have become much fitter.

I said, "This is a hospital. Don't cause any trouble."

"Trouble? You're the one who's causing trouble," Sam said as his face twisted with rage.

I gestured to Murphy to take Lorraine away while I held Sam back.

Watching as Lorraine slowly disappeared, Sam started to break down. "Let me go, you girlfriend-stealing bastard!"

He was no match for me, however. No matter how he struggled, he couldn't get out of my grasp. I only let him go after I was sure that Lorraine had left. "Know your place."
