"Xavier Joplin, you've gotten bold. How dare you start fighting?"
She had always turned a blind eye whenever Xavier fought in the past, mainly because it would not affect his life at all. Children fighting was normal behavior. That was what she always told herself.
It was when Xavier became a celebrity that she started worrying about this.
"Do you know how many people are watching you? How dare you fight in school?"
When she received news of it, she had been signing a contract. They had just gotten a spokesperson deal from a rather famous luxury local brand. Becoming their spokesperson would make Xavier even more famous.
If the scandal of his fights broke out, all of their efforts would have been in vain.
When Yvonne saw me and Lorraine, her expression turned uglier. "What are you doing here?"
I pulled Lorraine behind me. "You weren't answering your phone, so I was next in line."
I looked at Yvonne holding a folder in her hand. I guessed she had just gotten a deal.
"Xavier has been raking in cash for you, yet you don't let him rest at all?" More than once, I suspected that Yvonne was not being a good mother to Xavier at all. She seemed to not care whether he was tired or not. All she saw was money.
"Are you jealous?" Yvonne waved the folder in front of me smugly. "I almost forgot. When you were kicked out of your family, you didn't get a single cent. Of course, you'd be jealous of me."
Yvonne cautiously kept the contract as if she was afraid I would steal it away.
"Xavier, come with me. You have a shoot this afternoon."
Xavier looked at Jonas, his desire to play overpowering him.
"Can I take half a day off?"
"What? We made a deal. You'll breach the contract if you don't go." Yvonne had fully taken on the role of his manager. She even thought of taking on a few more artists.
She did not have the time or energy to apologize to the clients one by one. Besides, if Xavier did that, others would call him out for being hard to work with or unprofessional.
"If people catch you going to the amusement park instead of working, they'll surely talk bad about you."
Yvonne knew that Xavier had been under huge pressure recently, yet she still deliberately added pressure on him. "Do you want them to continue talking bad about you?"
Xavier looked horrified. "No."
They had called him useless. If it continued, he would soon think that he was useless too.
"Then, come with me."
"I won't allow it. If you want to leave, you leave on your own."
