This was Chris' first time losing his temper in the company. The employees quickly dispersed, but they couldn't resist glancing at Lorraine on their way out.
Once it was only the two of them left in the studio, Chris revealed his reason for coming. "Lorraine, it's been a while since we've seen each other, hasn't it"
"Just get to the point," Lorraine said
Because of me, Lorraine couldn't bring herself to like this man. He was incredibly cunning, so Lorraine didn't want to interact with him at all.
Unfortunately, since her studio was located here, avoiding him was impossible.
"Lorraine, don't you think you're being a bit too open?" Chris' words carried a hint of blame.
Lorraine looked at him with confusion as she tilted her head and said, "Why what's wrong with being open? Did I do anything wrong?"
She then added coldly, "Or are you saying I've said something wrong? Are you not an illegitimate child?"
Chris' expression immediately soured at those words. "Lorraine, you're really good at provoking people. You're even better than Cole at it."
Lorraine just wasn't one to seek out conflict normally. She definitely wasn't afraid to stand her ground if she needed to.
Chris paced the studio for a while before he suddenly turned to look at her. "Lorraine, if I remember correctly, you have an older and younger brother, right? I heard that your younger brother went missing?"
Lorraine was immediately on alert when she heard that. "What are you trying to imply?"
"Nothing at all. I'm just reminding you not to meddle in other people's business. I don't want to meddle in yours either," Chris replied.
His gaze turned greedy as he looked at Lorraine. "Lorraine, it's hard work supporting a family. Don't you think it's tiring? What's the point of staying with Cole?"
"What are you implying? I'm your sister-in-law." Lorraine took a few steps back. She recognized that look in Chris' eyes all too well.
Back when she worked for others, she would often encounter such expressions. They were greedy expressions that were filled with desire.
Chris shouldn't be looking at her that way.
Lorraine had a serious look on her face as she tried to tell him, "I'm already married. You'd best not entertain any inappropriate thoughts. You should be showing me more respect."
"Respect? How old-fashioned. So what if you're married? It's not like you can't get a divorce. Don't plenty of younger brothers marry their older brother's widows? Lorraine, are you really willing to spend your whole life with a man who doesn't even have a job?" Chris said.
