The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 282

Yvonne had her own career, so it wasn't like she couldn't take care of Xavier. If it came to a court decision, the court might not necessarily rule in my favor.

"At that point, things will get even more complicated for me," I said.

"So, you're just going to start a film company? You don't have any resources," Hayden said.

Starting a film company wasn't something you could just do. It required connections, money, and resources. I had none of that, so how was I supposed to start a company?

"Besides, even if you really did start a film company, it's not like we have any artists under us. Are you just going to have Xavier on the roster?"

I nodded at Hayden and rubbed my chin. "You're right. There's no way the company can have only Xavier under us."

Hayden said, "That's what I mean. You should—"

I interjected, "I should recruit a few more people. That way, it won't look so suspicious."

Money was not a problem as long as it could make Xavier happy. As long as he didn't continue mixing with those people in the entertainment industry, anything would do.

Hayden looked at me in disbelief. "You're crazy. You've really gone insane. Can't you just let that kid's mother take care of him?"

Yvonne was still Xavier's mother in the end. How could she harm him?

I frowned when I heard that. Then, I slammed a hand on the table. "It's precisely because Yvonne is his mother that Xavier doesn't have his guard up against her. They've been subtly guiding him to hate me, and I absolutely can't let that happen."

Xavier would also never go drinking with anyone again.

I didn't care if Hayden was opposed to it. I was already determined to start the company.

Grandma found out about it before the application was even processed.

"Are you not going to give up?" Even her fingers were trembling in anger as she looked at me.

Standing by the side, Chris had a smirk on his face. He acted like he was trying to help me when he was just trying to fan the flames. "Grandma, don't be angry. Cole might not be happy if you keep this up."

I scoffed at him and couldn't stop myself from retorting, "Save your fake sympathy. When have I ever needed your help?"

"Cole, there's no reasoning with you. Why is it wrong for others to help you?" Grandma slammed her cane down angrily.

"Since you insist on doing this, I'll have to remove you from your position for now. We'll talk again after you've calmed down," she said.

I watched as Grandma held Chris' hand and said softly, "You take Cole's place for now."

Chris looked at Grandma a bit excitedly. "Grandma, I don't think I should do that. The general manager position has always belonged to Cole."
