Feeling Yvonne's gaze, Jared did not look guilty at all. Instead, he looked right back at her. He even urged Xavier to endure it.

Xavier's brows were furrowed, and he wanted to cry out for help. Just as he turned his body, Yvonne scooped him up into her arms.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Canes, but we still have some matters we need to attend to. We'll need to leave now," Yvonne said.

Her words seemed to remind the others that they had pushed too far.

Harrison looked at her and continued to press, "Ms. Langley, I understand that your son is a child prodigy. He's very talented at acting as well. I might not be very well versed in some professional matters, but I know one thing—no matter what you do, you need money."

That final remark seemed to stab Yvonne in the heart.

What did he mean? Was he implying that she should be willing to do anything if it meant achieving her goals, even if it meant sacrificing her son for profit? She couldn't bring herself to do something like that.

As she held Xavier tightly, she avoided looking at Jared the whole time. She finally understood why Jared said that Xavier needed to be here today.

Xavier was very adorable and appealing to these men.

Yvonne held Xavier tightly and patted him gently on the shoulder to calm him down.

"Jared, we'll settle this when I get back." She turned around to leave without any hesitation.

Even though she needed money, there was no way she would stoop so low as to offer up her own son for it.

Harrison calmly watched as they left the room. Instead, it was Jared who hurried after them.

"Yvonne, stop causing trouble. Do you even know how much effort I put into arranging this meeting for you? You can't just walk out like this." His gaze fell on Xavier, and his intentions were incredibly clear.

"Even if you're really going to leave, you should at least let them take a look at Xavier's qualifications," he continued.

"Mommy, let's go back in and wait for someone," Xavier said calmly.

He didn't have to say who it was they were waiting for for Yvonne to understand. She shrugged off Jared's hand and carried Xavier back into the room.

Harrison, who had seemed friendly before this, was lounging lazily on the couch. He looked at them like he was looking at prey.

"Changed your mind?" he asked. He acted like he had known that Yvonne would turn back.

"I told you earlier, there's no need to run. I won't do anything bad to you." Harrison's eyes stayed glued on Xavier the whole time as he bit his lip. The gesture was absolutely vile when coupled with his gaze.

"Mr. Canes, I'm sorry they're so inexperienced. Why don't I offer you a toast?" Jared interjected.

"You're an award-winning actor. How could I dare to accept a drink from you?" Harrison said.
