Lorraine was anxiously walking with staggered breathing.
"Are you sure Xavier gave you the correct position?" She was not familiar with the surroundings, but after walking around, she realized that there was no logic to Xavier's instructions. She was worried that Xavier had given us the wrong directions.
"Have you called the police?"
"Not yet. But I brought some bodyguards with me."
Calling the police might alert the enemies.
"Once I head in, call the police right away."
Lorraine was stunned for a few seconds before realizing I was not planning on letting her come along with me. "You're going in on your own?"
The worry in her gaze was not an act. I found consolation in it.
"They want money. They won't do anything to Xavier." My presence would be more convincing.
"Actually, I—"
"Lorraine, you'll cause more trouble if you're with me." I knew this was the only way to stop her from coming with me.
Sure enough, Lorraine's expression turned grim. "Fine. You have it your way."
She was clearly unhappy about it, but I had no choice.
…
Xavier stayed in the toilet after making the call to me. He was worried that if he left, he might bump into someone outside.
Who were those people? He knew no one here, so why would he have any enemies?
His eyelids twitched ominously. Was it my enemies who had found him? The thought of him being targeted made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up.
He hugged his bag tightly.
Then, a man yelped in pain. Xavier saw me kicking the man down.
"How dare you touch my son? Who sent you?" I glared at the man. "Speak up."
I raised my feet and stomped on his crotch while sneering at him. I was thrilled to hear the man howl in pain.
"I'm going to ask you one last time. Who hired you?"
"What are you talking about? I don't understand." The man continued feigning ignorance.
"I see. Alright then." I picked Xavier up and put him in my arms. "I'll look into it myself."
That man noticed my power and influence. He tried to get up and run, but I stepped on his wrist.
"You're trying to run away? I didn't see you running when you were trying to kidnap my son."
