"Are you trying to start your own business?" Grandma said icily.
"Grandma, I'll still be your grandson." I was just no longer going to be part of the Joplin family.
I hung up and looked at Xavier, who was stubbornly sitting by the door. I was planning on giving him three days. I believed that he would cave in by then.
Quentin's sentence came quickly, and he was charged with pedophilia. I had handed all the evidence I had on him to the police previously, and they arrested him immediately.
After Quentin left, the parents of the students started causing a ruckus at the school.
"How could you hire a pedophile?"
"Were our children targeted?"
"Give us a refund right now!"
Many of them came for a certain someone.
Yvonne was surrounded by them and had a grim look on her face. She rebuked, "You chose to send your children to this school. What does that have to do with me?"
"The gall you have to say that! If it weren't for you constantly saying on your show about how great the school was, we would never have sent our children here."
"You'll have to pay for the mental damage you caused our children."
"Who knows whether that pervert did anything to our children or not?"
It was a tense atmosphere. I looked at Yvonne's face which was all scrunched up. It looked like she was about to lose her temper.
"Get lost!"
Her swearing was caught on video.
"You'll have to give us a satisfactory answer by today."
I looked at Yvonne, who was surrounded by the parents. I was just about to leave when someone grabbed my hand.
"Return my son to me. Return my son!" an old woman wailed while holding onto me tightly. Her hands were wrinkled and covered in calluses. It did not look like a normal old person's pair of hands.
"Who are you?"
"You're the one who sent my son to prison. How dare you ask me who I am?"
I sized her up. The old woman was dressed in clothes that clearly looked like they had been picked up from the trash. Her son had a well-to-do job as a teacher, so why was she dressed up so poorly?
"What do you want?"
So, it was just money.
The woman did not look like she was in need of money, but who would have thought that she was so petty?
"I don't need much. Just a hundred thousand dollars."
The parents of the children attending that school were well-to-do. A year of school fees cost a few hundred thousand dollars.
I initially wanted to send the boys to an international school, but Grandma and Yvonne stopped me, which was how they ended up in this place.
"You sure are shameless to ask."
A hundred thousand dollars? That was nothing to me, but I just didn't want to give it to her.
"Are you going to pay up or not? This is what you owe us."
She looked at the people behind her. "Where are we going to find another school in the middle of a semester? The time that our children have lost can't be bought with any amount of money."
