The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 205

Listening to my employees' heated discussion, I sneered, "She's indeed ungrateful."

"Mr. Joplin?"

They all fell silent upon my presence. Noticing how wary they looked, I smiled and said, "Today, I'll allow you to voice your thoughts freely."

As soon as I said so, they all dashed back to their respective seats.

Yvonne loved slandering me, didn't she? Now, I'd show her who was better at this.

She gained a lot of compassion after the interview, so she immediately seized the opportunity to hold a live stream.

I couldn't care less until I saw Xavier in the live stream.

"Xavier, say hi to the audience!" Yvonne chirped.

Seeing how delighted she was, I bet she must've benefited a lot from the interview.

Xavier might seem bold, but he was actually quite timid. Noticing how uneasy he looked on camera, I clenched my fists in anger.

"Yvonne has gone too far," I hissed.

Xavier was still a child. How could she force him to go on a live stream?

"Murphy, prepare the car. I'm heading over to Langley Group now."

I waited for almost half an hour in the meeting room before Yvonne finally showed up. Looking weary, she plopped herself down on the couch. "What is it?"

"What's going on with the live stream?"

"I thought you didn't care about me at all." She hedged.

"I don't care about you, but how could you put our son in the spotlight? Isn't the playground incident enough to serve as a warning for you?"

Everyone now knew Xavier was my son. If someone had any ill intentions, his life would be at stake.

Xavier stood trembling at the side. He felt like his mother had changed lately; she resembled a monster.

"Xavier," Yvonne began, regaining her composure. She crouched down and grabbed his wrist. "Xavier, you'll always take my side, won't you?"

Stroking his hair, she continued, "You know what you should say in court, right?"

Yvonne gulped, well aware of how much Xavier disliked livestreaming. She knew he didn't like spending time with her, but she had no choice.

Langley Group was in crisis, and I wasn't willing to help. If she didn't figure out how to make money, her brand wouldn't be able to go public.

"Come on, Xavier," she urged. "Promise me, okay?"

Xavier pursed his lips and slowly nodded. After a while, he began tentatively, "Can I stop livestreaming?"

Yvonne's expression immediately darkened. "Why do you want that?"

Reminded of the time he was locked in a dark room as punishment, Xavier shuddered.
