Jonas was excited. Seeing him like this, I shook my head helplessly.
Who did he pick this up from?
The food was quickly served, perhaps because Lorraine had booked in advance.
In less than half an hour, all the dishes were served. They were basically foods that children would like.
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I added two more dishes. "Why didn't you order something that you like?"
"There are too many that I want to try." Lorraine smiled shyly as she handed me a bowl of mushroom soup. "At the same time, I want Jonas to try the dishes here. They're very good at preparing food for kids."
"Do you come here often?"
I accepted the bowl and watched Lorraine naturally serve Jonas food. I was a little moved. How great would it be if she was really Jonas' stepmother?
"My brother's children like the food here."
At that mention, I recalled that she had an older brother.
"Speaking of which, your brother and my brother are good friends," I said.
"Is that so?"
"Yes. Has your brother never told you this? We only met because of them."
Seeing how surprised she looked, she clearly did not know about it.
"My brother only told me to go on a blind date. He never told me how he got to know you."
"So, does that mean you were lied to?"
"I guess."
Now that it was after working hours, Lorraine seemed more relaxed. I was in a better mood too.
When it was almost done, I was about to send Lorraine home when I was suddenly interrupted by a call.
"Let me answer this." Yvonne's name appeared on my phone. I had no intention of hiding it from Lorraine.
"What is it?" I asked into the phone. The only reason she would call would be because of Xavier.
Sure enough, she sighed. "Xavier is getting discharged tonight. He wants to see you."
Lorraine blushed and nodded obediently.
"Wait for me."
I returned Xavier's call and told him I'd be there in a moment. I was only relieved when I saw Murphy bring Lorraine away.
Jonas waited patiently for me in his chair in the restaurant.
"Daddy, are you going to see Xavier?"
I was afraid that Jonas might be worried, so I never told him about Xavier's condition.
"Do you want to come along?"
"I miss him." His eyes reddened as he opened his hands and hugged me. He buried his face in my chest. "Daddy, actually, Xavier likes you a lot. Previously, when your company was in danger, he even helped you."
What?
I thought about the program that he came up with and the stranger who could control the stock market. A strange emotion welled up in my heart.
