The morning passed by quickly. Lorraine spent the entirety of it by the printer, printing documents for others. She was more than familiar with the job as this was what she did during her internship.
Sure enough, when it was almost noon, Hannah ordered her to buy food.
"Remember, get a salad for Mr. Joplin."
Lorraine was a little surprised. "Does Mr. Joplin eat out?"
"Mind your own business!" Hannah snapped at Lorraine.
When Lorraine returned with more than a dozen sets of meals, she saw Hannah standing by the entrance anxiously.
"What took you so long?" She snatched the meal boxes from Lorraine and left.
"It's barely noon."
How hungry was she?
…
Hannah knew that I didn't like the food in the company's cafeteria, so she deliberately got Lorraine to get me something else. She knew that I liked healthy foods.
"Enter."
When she heard my voice, she smiled and strutted over to me. "Mr. Joplin, I brought you lunch."
When I heard the clicking of the high heels, I immediately knew who it was.
"Didn't I tell you that there was no need?"
Hannah had been bringing lunch for me for the entire week, but I had never taken a single bite. I gave it all to Murphy. I had told her many times not to bring me food, yet she always bought lunch for all the others too, which made it seem like I was blowing things out of proportion.
"I bought this from the restaurant opposite. Have a taste."
"Just put it down. I'll eat it later." I was signing documents, and I planned to use the same tactic as I always did.
"Cole, I heard you've been busy preparing to target the international market. Why did you call me here?"
"Mr. Yale, I have something to talk to you about."
Richard's gaze was shifty. He clearly did not want to engage with me.
"I haven't said anything yet. Why do you look like you don't want to continue this conversation?"
Richard smiled awkwardly at me. "I know you well enough. You called me here because of Hannah, right?"
I didn't deny it. I got Murphy to bring him some refreshments. "Hannah joined my company back then to gain experience. Now, she has learned all that she needs to. It's time for her to head back."
Richard looked rather troubled and said, "See, my company doesn't have a design department. I'd have nothing for her. She'd be able to grow more with you."
"Mr. Yale, I understand where you're coming from. But I'm sure you don't need me to spell things out for you."
I had no intention of getting together with Hannah. His scheme was not going to work.
