W-What was going on here?
"That's enough. Stop!"
Frank waved his hand, splitting up all four of them.
Hana got up too, holding back her restless goons and smiling. "Apologies, Mr. Frankton. Like you, I'm just testing your ladies—I'm sure you'd understand."
Frank snapped coolly, "I'm afraid I won't unless you explain why you're here!"
Hana smiled and nodded. "Thank goodness you're reasonable. I'm sure I'd be dead if it's anyone else. It's rare for a person to be both humble and moral, and it's my fortune to meet you."
Then, glancing at the deck of cards, she suggested, "But mere words are pointless. Why don't we gamble?"
"And what do you have to offer Mr. Frankton?" Jada snapped in annoyance.
"This!" Hana presented a ring.
Everyone laughed—the ring was made from stainless steel! Even the metallic scrapings of the golden hand-grips overhead would be worth more!
However, just as everyone thought Frank would refuse, he suddenly said, "I'll take your bet!"
Unbeknownst to them, the golden dragon had spoken in Frank's mind the instant Hana showed her ring, telling him that he must get that ring!
However, he did not like violence and was all too pleased to play cards with Hana to acquire the ring fairly.
And seeing that Frank was agreeing to it so easily, Hana remained impassive.
In truth, her stomach was churning, as her father had given her this ring before he died. She had no idea what secrets were embedded within, and all he told her was that it awaited a new master.
Was it possible that the person in question was the famous owner of Frankton Group who had already proven that he was more knowledgeable than the rest?
"H-How do I deal?" Demi asked softly after she was done shuffling.
Hana told her the rules and added, "Also, Mr. Frankton won't be penalized for losing, while he'll get the ring if he wins… as well as a little secret on top of that."
"Alright, I'm game!" Jada then said.
She knew Frank better but was worried he would be hesitant, not to mention that beating a woman would hurt his reputation. And since she could not deal, she directly volunteered to take the bullet for Frank.
"You could have said so earlier," Hana growled in annoyance.
Jada shrugged. "It's never too late!"
Frank actually did not want Jada to get involved so that he could beat Hana with no uncertainty. However, seeing how rude she was, she decided to let Jada discipline the haughty brat.
