Frank nodded. "That's right. Take me home."
"Sure."
Shanton was Sue's turf after all, so how could she let her guest leave without hospitality? People would laugh at her for that!
"Why don't you wait a couple of days before you go?" Sue asked tentatively.
Frank shook his head. "Nah. Maybe some other time."
Sue had no choice but to take Frank in her Lamborghini, and they were once again at that service area half an hour later.
As Sue parked and alighted, ready to get some champagne from the supermarket, she bumped into a face she did not want to see.
Ian Laney leaned against his GTR, smoking as he dissed her. "If it isn't Ms. Fisher. It's only been a couple of hours, but you look terrible."
"Keep barking."
Sue had no intention to play his games and was going to turn and leave when he cut her off.
"Don't just run away!" He chuckled. "Forgive me for asking, but why are you leaving Shanton in such a hurry? Wait, don't tell me that you're transporting Lugh Frankton's ashes?"
Sue smirked. "Sorry to disappoint you, but the experiment was a success. Lugh has now gained regenerative abilities and perhaps immortality. Your career in medicine might soon go up in smoke!"
"Come on, Ms. Fisher!"
Ian smiled in wry amusement. "The world could end tomorrow, but your boy still wouldn't gain regenerative abilities, let alone immortality! You don't even understand why humans age and die, and you'd still keep barking madly!"
"What was that?!"
Even if Frank was alive, that still did not mean the experiment was a success! Ian refused to believe that the likes of Igor Leitner would overcome the greatest hurdle in medicine!
"I don't believe you, unless you prove that you can regenerate!" he yelled at Frank.
Frank, however, shrugged and moved toward his car. "I don't have the time to waste on someone like you. Go live in your pathetic fantasy."
Seeing the chance right then, Ian picked up a pebble and launched it at Frank.
Frank could have dodged it even without the spiritron vein's help, but Ian had infuriated him.
He hence stood and allowed the pebble to cut through his left cheek.
It drew a little blood, but the cut was soon healing visibly, with Frank's blood returning inside his body and leaving Ian speechless.
