Seeing that she could not hide now, the woman simply gave up and asked, "How did you know that I came looking for you?"
"Sally York lied to you, it seems!"
Frank raised his ring, which glowed dazzlingly.
As it dimmed, the woman's knees buckled and she almost fell into Frank's arms.
He dodged her, however, while Jada was nice enough to catch her, or she would have fallen face first.
When the woman got out of Jada's embrace, she stared at her palms and gasped in disbelief. "M-My powers are gone…?"
Jada smiled. "My master has full control over the spiritron vein now. It's only natural that he took back what's rightfully his."
"What?!"
The woman could hardly believe her ears…. If that was true, they were all going to die!
Still, Jada offered, "Why don't you take this opportunity to surrender? I can see that you mean no harm."
It was not an offer made out of kindness, as Jada really could not care less about some stranger.
Instead, she simply looked beautiful, and it would be a waste for her to just die like that.
Moreover, they could use her to uncover Sally's true motives.
For her part, the woman spaced out for a while before nodding in exasperation.
Her group had been content remaining as bystanders and thought that they stood a chance now because they had numbers and were granted new powers.
Frank ignored her and absorbed the nuns' energies right then before wheeling on her and snapping, "I could see you really didn't mean to come after me, so why did you go through with it anyway?"
While he was skeptical when the novitiate approached him, it turned out that the abbess was really unaware that he had gained full control over the Shagan spiritron vein. While she was a little presumptuous, she was genuinely kind, and Frank found himself able to let their slight go unanswered.
"It's a long story." The abbess sighed. "Our monastery stands on the fringes of town, but we suffered constant harassment. We had no choice but to accept Sally's aid, and to repay her grace, we… Oh, talk about playing into the devil's hand!"
Frank nodded. "Understandable, but that's not reason enough for forgiveness. I'd actually die if circumstances hadn't changed."
The abbess promptly stood between Frank and her sisters. "This is my responsibility, and I'll gladly take it, but my sisters are innocent! I insist that you let them go!"
"Not a problem, but you'll be Mr. Frankton's slave!" Jada was quick to pounce on an opportunity to get Frank yet another consort.
"Agreed!" the abbess exclaimed, determined.
