Tatum laughed despite himself. "Are you really suggesting that I'm beneath you?"
He swung his ashwood pole at Jada, who dodged it and backflipped toward Tatum, punching him in the wrist!
Reeling in pain, Tatum dropped his pole and started to trade punches with Jada instead.
They fought evenly, leaving the crowd around them staring blankly.
Most of them presumed that martial arts were lost in time and were shocked that the usually haughty girlboss Jada had actually inherited it!
"I'm shocked… Ms. Turin is amazing! Every strike she launches has the might of a grandmaster!"
Moreover, without a pole, Tatum was clearly no match for Jada.
In just forty exchanges, Jada had him pinned down—but just before he lost, Tatum kept blocking Jada's punches while inching toward his ashwood pole.
Eventually, he took one punch but picked up his pole at the same time.
Struggling to his feet, he shoved his pole into the wall, knocking off the tip to reveal a spear tip.
"So what? You're not going to win!" Jada snarled as she vaulted toward Tatum again, but Tatum leapt backward, putting some distance between them.
Then, he swung his spear rapidly, leaving afterimages and preventing Jada from attacking.
The crowd was naturally shocked once more. "Amazing! That technique would at least make him a general in olden times!"
Meanwhile, Jada started to circle Tatum, trying to find an opening, when Tatum's spear streaked toward her.
He moved so quickly that it was too late by the time Jada saw him move!
But at the very last moment, a pebble shot out, tearing the spear pole in half!
Tatum and the spectating crowd were all left stunned and turned to see that it was none other than Frank who attacked.
Truly, this year must have been the year of oddities! It was not just Jada who was amazing—even their new boss proved himself to be one in a million!
"Who are you? What master do you serve?"
Frank knew that Urich sent Tatum, so he skipped that part and cut to the chase.
After all, someone as good as Tatum definitely was no lone ranger—he was on someone's payroll, and Frank was eager to nip the issue in the bud.
"So, you're saying that you want revenge against my employer?" Tatum asked. "Come on. You're better than I am, but there's plenty others who are better than me anyway… And there's more than a few you can't even hope to surpass!"
"I could at least try!" Frank smirked.
"Hector Clet!"
"Hector Clet?!" Frank frowned at the name—so that geezer was really not as simple as he looked.
Still, he told Tatum, "Pass him a message—tell him that he's either coming to see me, or I'm going to see him instead. If it's the latter… Let's just say he'd be in over his head."
Tatum snorted. "Don't you ever bite your tongue, talking big like that?"
