Lara was left flushed by Sylvie's question, and she stood in a corner in silence.
Frank ignored them, however, and headed to the third room where he carefully rolled up the painting and put it inside a protective plastic bag. Then, he exhaled firmly into the air, ensuring that the scent of the Divine Delight was not in there before breathing a sigh of relief.
That was when he noticed Sylvie standing at the doorway, asking, "Can I come in now?"
Frank chuckled. "You're amazing. Aren't you worried about getting hit by the aphrodisiac?"
"Worried? Why? If the chips go down, I might not be the one losing." Sylvie sighed nonchalantly as she entered.
She examined the View of Fureno painting and could tell despite the plastic bag that it was a fake.
As for the other scrolls and paintings, they were old, but the artists and authors were no one famous.
Sylvie was therefore a little puzzled—everything in that other room was the good stuff, but everything here was sub-par?
However, after some careful categorizing, Sylvie had an idea what was going on.
Everything in this room—including the View of Fureno painting—was drawn or written in the same year by the person who fashioned this tomb into a hideout.
"And that person must be a he."
The thought left Sylvie chuckling sarcastically. "He was perfectly aware that his work was nothing impressive but drew that replica of the View of Fureno and coated it with that aphrodisiac, knowing it would draw any lady's attention right away. And then, they would be at his mercy."
Soon, the rest of the expedition entered too, and seeing nothing valuable, they moved on to the last room.
It was strange, as it was completely empty save for a stone table placed dead center.
It had a small dent, which, upon a closer look, was glimmering with fluorescent radiance.
Frank was immediately reminded of his ring, and he took it off to size it up—it actually matched the shape of the dent!
Hence, Frank put it on the dent and turned it to the left.
Click.
As they continued walking, Frank's ring suddenly glowed in red—a hue it had never shown before.
Wherever it shone, murals and sculptures would light up into curious images.
Though surprised, Sylvie quickly directly led the expedition team to take photos.
Frank also quickly learned to work with them, directing the glow of the ring on every portion of the chamber so that they could take photos of everything. Each photo would be uploaded to a computer, each placed adjacent to the other.
They soon deciphered them—it depicted a story just like the murals Frank saw on Dartmoor Hill, which told the story of a hero's resistance against invaders.
However, these images were more detailed than the murals at Dartmoor Hill. The hero was depicted as fighting against powerful monsters, leaving him at a disadvantage.
One day, the hero was suddenly granted a power, which he also bestowed upon his soldiers.
Things took a quick turn since, as the hero and his forces wiped out the monsters… but the hero's ambition also bloated, and he led his armies on a campaign to conquer the world.
