The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage novel Chapter 2044

"Bleurgh! You're scum!"

Blackie glowered ferociously, his resolve still strong.

Stanley then removed another stack of dollar bills. "Money or death?"

"Death!"

"Loyalty or death?"

Nonetheless, Stanley continued his pressuring tactic, now removing most of the dollar bills. "With this much money, you could live the rest of your life comfortably on just the bank interest. Even if you're not worried about yourself, you should be worried about your blind mother, don't you think?"

Blackie hesitated at the mention of his mother—she had worked blood and sweat to raise him. If he did not repay her, what was he if not an animal?

And with that, Blackie hung his head and yielded…

Frank frowned as he watched the video again, deciding to himself that he must protect Blackie's mother despite what Blackie did.

"I see!"

Even Vicky was stunned—while Blackie was out of line, his intentions were pure.

At the same time, Elder Fango turned toward Stanley. "What more do you have to say, Mr. Durban?"

Seeing that there was no running away now, Stanley promptly tried the insanity plea.

"W-Who am I?! What is this place?! Who are you people?!" he shrieked. "S-Stay away! Don't come any closer!"

Frank chuckled cooly in turn. "Have you forgotten that I'm a top-notch healer, Mr. Durban? Why don't you let me try treating your insanity?"

Seeing that Frank was ready to attack, Stanley's survival instincts went into overdrive, and he promptly switched tactics.

"Listen to me, Elder Fango!" he cried instead. "I'm doing this for the Martial Alliance—for the big picture! Just think about it for a second: how much conflict has Frank Lawrence caused in the country after he showed up?! If we eliminate him—"

Talk about instant karma!

Nonetheless, Frank was glowering at Stanley savagely. "Did you think I'd spare your life? I'm only stopping Elder Fango because I want to do it myself!"

Stanley was so horrified he forgot the pain in his legs right then and pushed himself up to kowtow endlessly at Frank's feet.

"Just let me live! You can have everything I have, and I'll do everything you say without arguing…"

Nonetheless, he soon trailed off.

Anyone worth their salt knew what Frank was like—he was capable of being more ruthless than Stanley could ever be.

How would Frank ever spare him after he pushed Frank that far?!

He then remembered that he was a big shot himself. Even if he groveled, there was no chance of survival, and he would be made a laughing stock on top of that!
