Governor Quill then wheeled on Tim Cox with a threatening glare. "Tell me the truth! Were you ordered to deceive me and slander Frank?! Speak!"
"I-I…" Tim stammered, his whole body trembling under the pressure of Governor Quill despite being a martial artist himself.
He glanced awkwardly at Rex in the distance, and at this point, Governor Quill would not have missed a single detail.
Even if Tim never said a word, that tiny gesture told him right away that Rex was involved.
"Rex!" he bellowed as he held out a hand.
He projected his pure vigor, which quickly materialized into a giant hand that seized Rex right then, pulling him over. "Are you going to come clean, or should I torture it out of you?!"
Governor Quill's expression was cold and murderous, and Rex almost wet himself right then.
Even so, he clenched his teeth and shook his head repeatedly.
He could not confess to anything, or things would end terribly for him.
However, seeing that Rex refused to break even now, Governor Quill smirked.
The giant hand then tightened around Rex, leaving him screaming in pain.
"Stop! Stop!"
Seeing that her son would soon be crushed to death, Cara threw all caution to the wind as she begged on her knees, "Please, don't kill Rex! I confess—it's all my fault! All mine! None of it has anything to do with Rex!"
Alba did the same, hanging his head as he did.
Since there was no point in hiding anything now, Alba confessed everything, from how they had slandered Frank to how Rex had threatened Tim Cox and the other soldiers.
In fact, Governor Quill himself knew he had been deceived and had a hunch that Frank was innocent. He simply did not expect his own children to be that shameless—especially Alba, who would betray the man who had saved him and his daughter for his privilege.
"Alba, you animal!" Governor Quill growled. "And you still call yourself a man?!"
Alba was on his knees, afraid to even look up as he whimpered. "I'm sorry, Father… I'm sorry…"
"Dad… How could you do this?!" Megan was left shocked by her father's confession too.
