The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage novel Chapter 1884

Nearby, Rex was caught off guard, his cheek clenching tensely. "He actually cured Megan..?"

His goon had been watching the fight between Saul and Frank.

If Megan had somehow survived the devastation, then the accusation that Frank had poisoned Megan would be proven false.

In fact, that would in turn lead to Governor Quill doubting the other accusations thrown against Frank.

With that, he would not be leaping to conclusions and might even order a thorough investigation, which would eventually lead to the skeletons in the closet being revealed.

And Governor Quill was not one so easily fooled at his age.

His heart racing right then, Rex promptly shot one of his goons a look.

The goon had been with him long enough to catch his cue.

While Rex was being watched and could not leave, that was not the same for the goon.

Seizing the moment when no one was watching, he quietly backed away and left, sneaking into Megan's half-collapsed mansion.

"Dad!"

Meanwhile, Megan was sharing an emotional hug with Alba in her broken room.

Alba was shedding emotional tears in turn, seeing how alive his daughter was. "You're really fine, Megan! Oh, thank goodness!"

Still, as they pulled away, Megan quickly asked, "Where's Frank? Has he left?"

"Frank Lawrence?"

Alba cringed a little but forced himself to look calm. "Why would you ask about him?"

He turned toward his wife, who nodded exasperatedly.

"Mr. Quill…"

That was when a goon with a sharp glare appeared in a corner of the room, bowing his head at Alba. "You're not going to ruin things for Young Master Quill, are you?"

"What?!"

Alba's face fell as he wheeled on the goon coldly. "Is Rex Quill ordering me around now?!"

"Certainly not—he's just sent me to refresh your memory."

The goon spoke respectfully, but there was a threatening edge in his words. "Should things come to light, many shall suffer—you, me, and everyone else in this manor."

Alba's cheek twitched in annoyance, but he was himself fighting against his conscience.
