Frank then said, "Just wait for me. I'll be right there."
With that, he hung up.
"Eh?"
Winter, who was still holding her phone, was naturally left confused.
She did not even mention an address, but Frank seemed to have understood everything and said that he would be right there…
Nonetheless, the people around Winter clearly heard the static beeping of her phone.
Their leader, a fat woman with a mole on her lips who looked exceedingly haughty, smirked. "Tut, tut—and you call yourself the chief of Zamri Hospital? Slept with many men to get the job, didn't you, girlie?"
The undisguised insult left Jean Zims at once furious.
Still, this was the woman's turf—and on top of that, it was the home of Governor Quill, who held the highest military authority in Draconia's east coast.
As such, Winter could only seethe, since she could not express her rage despite how furious she was.
On the other hand, Jean snapped at the woman right then, "Watch your mouth!"
As Winter's best friend and assistant, she had followed Winter here to Bralog.
And though Winter could tolerate this, Jean was more blunt and refused to let anyone insult her best friend, despite the situation.
"Jean!"
Though she was wearing an embroidered dress like Cara, she was quite soft spoken, even comforting Winter, "It's alright, miss. You don't have to worry too much even if you can't help—Megan's father has already sent for a foreign specialist, and he'll be here soon."
Although Winter nodded with a scowl, she explained quietly, "Ma'am, I've been trying to tell you that your daughter isn't ill. She's been infected with… an unusual bug that I can't quite describe myself."
"Get out of here if you don't know what you're talking about!" Cara snapped at her, at once annoyed. "Why are you dragging your feet? What a waste of our time!"
"Cara!" Isla snapped at her, shooting her a warning glare as Cara was ready to throw another round of insults at Winter.
"It's fine."
Winter took a deep breath and forced a smile. "Ma'am, I have not seen this condition before, but that's because it's not an ordinary illness. Your daughter has been infected by a resilient parasite someplace else."
"Parasite?" Isla clasped a hand over her mouth in horror.
