The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage novel Chapter 1551

Although Gina shot Frank an accusingly look, she still puffed herself up and retorted, "Yes, he's my son-in-law. Don't you know the saying that goes 'the nail that sticks out gets hammered down'? That's my son-in-law—don't get jealous of me now."

Both Helen and Frank were left gaping, flabbergasted.

Still, Helen only stared at Frank blankly for a moment before coming to her senses and beaming at him.

Her smile left all the younger men staring fixedly at her right then.

While there was no telling if Gina was just trying to save face or just being tactful, she was more or less acknowledging Frank as her son-in-law. If anything, it was a massive improvement from her unbudging refusal to approve him before.

Even Frank was caught off guard.

He was ready for Gina to get on his nerves again, and this felt… different.

"Hahaha… Quoting such nonsense? You're so amusing, Gina."

However, the flamboyantly dressed middle-aged woman simply laughed audibly at Gina. "Don't bother pretending to be humble now—I know for a fact that your daughter is a bigwig in Zamri right now, as both the board chairwoman and CEO of Lanecorp.

"And now, you're saying that such an incredible daughter would get herself such an unassuming husband? The way I see it, you're just trying to cover for him when he's just a manwhore. Can't even admit that much, huh?"

The middle-aged woman clearly had beef with Gina and was insulting Frank just to embarrass her.

However, those remarks were playing right into Ilsa's hands, as she turned and sneered at Gina.

"But this suit isn't actually in our catalog, because it's bootleg!"

As Ilsa spoke, she dramatically raised Frank's sleeve to show it to the crowd. "The needlework on the sleeve is a mess compared to our boutique's, and the brand tag had clearly been messed with! I can see that right away, because my daughter works exclusively in that section.

"You're obviously just trying to pass this man off as someone important. Even if others would think that suit is worth something, it's actually not even worth two grand!"

The revelation left the crowd in an uproar.
