Jax ran a high fever from the rain. He kept mumbling Serenity’s name in the

ward. Rylee sat sat by his bed motionless, feeling nothing. Her love for Jax was

gone, replaced by hatred and helplessness. But she couldn’t leave. She was

already used to having life handed to her on a silver platter. She pressed the

button and doctors rushed in to treat Jax. At night, Jax finally awoke.

When Jax got well he found that he didn’t hate Rylee any more. They were

both at fault.

“Let’s divorce,” he said.

Rylee’s face turned white. She shook her head frantically. She knelt, begging

him to reconsider.

Jax closed his eyes wearily.“You were wrong, and I was wrong. Let’s stop this

mistake.”

Rylee kept shaking her head. Jax said, “The house is yours, and I’ll give you

five million. Let’s part decently.”

Before Rylee could respond, Jax’s mother stormed in and slapped him.
