Shocked, Leon stood from his chair.

He never stopped loving Iris and despite how calm a man he often was, he could no longer keep his composure at the news of Iris’s engagement to Jacob.

“Yes. According to what we heard, there’ll be an official family meeting for the Youngs to name Gilbert Young their next leader. That’s when they’ll announce the engagement,” Spencer continued.

“No way! Iris can’t marry Jacob Lowe! It’s not happening!” Leon shouted as he hurried outside.

Iris did not reach out to him and since he made the Youngs his enemy, Leon had no reason to get involved. However, the woman he loved was going to marry another man and he could no longer stay away.

Determined to swallow his pride to see Iris and ask about it, Leon ran into Cynthia on his way out.

“Leon, what’s wrong? Why are you in such a hurry?” Cynthia asked.

“I’m going to find Iris!” He gritted out.

“What?” Cynthia was stunned for a moment, but soon came to a realization. “Have you already found out about the arranged marriage between Jacob and Iris?”

“Damn it! The Lowes are plotting something and the Youngs are foolish enough to agree to the marriage? Are they trying to dig their own grave?! I’m going to talk to Iris!” Leon’s expression darkened.

He specifically asked Ariel to remind Iris to watch out and he could not understand why Iris would ignore that to marry Jacob. However, he soon realized that Iris might be forced into it based on his understanding on how materialistic and selfish the Youngs were.

He was both anxious and worried for Iris.

“No! Leon, you can’t go to Iris right now! You are an outsider and you’ve crossed the Youngs in the past. If you insist on interfering, they will make you pay for it!” Cynthia grabbed him by the arm and shook her head.

“So what if I cross them? How can I stand idly by?!“
