Oliver Holden—the ringleader—picked up the bowl of food and dumped it right over Dominic's head. "There. Don't say I never looked out for you," he sneered. "Eat up, buddy."
The others burst into laughter behind him.
Dominic hadn't eaten in two days. Naturally, he was starving.
He ignored the ridicule, picked a clump of vegetables off his shoulder, and shoved it into his mouth.
Upon seeing this, Oliver tossed him his own plate.
Dominic looked up and glared at him.
Oliver said, "What's the difference between this crap and pig feed anyway? You look half-dead—just take it."
But Dominic didn't move.
Oliver's smile turned cold. "Tough guy, huh? Let me give you a reality check—man can't live without food. Do you really want to bet your life on pride?"
Oliver raised the plate, ready to dump it in the toilet. However, Dominic lunged at him and snatched it out of his hands. Then, he devoured it like a starving animal.

In Holdlast Hospital, Kylie had been by Owen's bedside all morning.
Later that afternoon, she called Logan.
"Logan, any updates on the investigation?"
"Nothing solid yet," Logan answered. "But if anything turns up, I'll make sure you're the first to know."
Kylie's heart sank, but she kept her tone steady. "Alright. Thank you for your help."
"No need to thank me," Logan respectfully said. His tone toward her had grown noticeably more polite over time. "Is there anything else I can help with, Ms. Clark?"
If even Samuel couldn't uncover the truth behind the crash, only two explanations existed.
One—the mastermind had serious counter-surveillance skills and had planned every move flawlessly. Or two—Samuel himself was the mastermind.
Either way, Kylie decided that it was time to speak with Dominic directly.
Up until now, she'd been too focused on Owen's critical condition to pursue the truth. But it was time to get answers.
The guards stopped her at the gate when she arrived. "Sorry, Ms. Clark," one of them said. "It's not visiting hours."
Kylie frowned but stayed calm. "When can I see him then?"
"Visiting days are Wednesdays. Today's Thursday. You'll have to come back next week."
