The atmosphere was tense and unsettling.
Logan pressed down on the gas pedal, driving as fast as possible toward the hospital.
As soon as the car came to a halt, Kylie pushed open the door and sprinted toward Building 3, where the operating room was located.
Samuel watched her anxious figure disappear into the distance. His dark eyes narrowed, and his face was extremely gloomy.
His thin lips pressed into a hard line as he asked, "Any updates on the investigation?"
Logan's expression was grim. "This place is remote and underdeveloped, so there were only a few surveillance cameras. It's been difficult to track down anything, and whoever's behind this—"
"I don't need to hear about your incompetence," Samuel coldly cut him off, pressing his fingers against his temple. "Just tell me what you've found."
"So far, nothing useful." Logan admitted while wiping his forehead. "I've already assigned more people to the case. Back at the station, the driver said the person who had contacted him was me.
"Someone impersonated me. It's clearly a setup targeting you, trying to drive a wedge between you and Ms. Clark."
This case wasn't just about the hit-and-run. It was tied to Vincent's treatment and involved many people. After all, Kylie agreed to continue treating Vincent only if Owen pulled through.
If something happened to him, would she put aside her resentment and continue the treatment?
Samuel's expression darkened, and his voice was cold. "Contact the hospital. Get him the best doctors. Provide the best medical resources."
"Yes, Mr. Vance," Logan replied.
…
Kylie ran up three flights of stairs in one breath before reaching the entrance of the operating room.
The doors were tightly shut, and the red indicator light above her glowed ominously, showing that the surgery was still in progress.
She took a deep breath and anxiously rubbed her hands together as she paced the hallway.
A few moments later, the doors to the emergency room swung open.
"Doctor, please save him! Seaville is over an hour away by car..."
Just then, the doors to the operating room opened again.
Immediately, Owen was wheeled out with an oxygen mask over his face.
Kylie didn't even know how to contact his family. They were all overseas.
So, she stood there, lost and overwhelmed, not knowing what to do.
Suddenly, Sebastian arrived with a full medical team in tow. Not only that, but they had brought medication and equipment that might be needed too.
Kylie was shocked. "Dr. Miller, you…"
Sebastian turned to his team. "Take him over first. I'll be there in a moment."
