There was warmth on her wrist where Samuel grabbed her. His tall, imposing figure was inching closer as he exuded an overwhelming air.
Kylie went stiff while she sat on her chair, her heart skipping a beat. He leaned in and whispered coldly into her ear, "I'm going to carry you if you don't get up."
She was at a loss for words. Although she had no idea why he was mad, it was very clear that he was infuriated.
Wasn't he supposed to be having lunch with his beloved lady? Couldn't Iris make him stay with her? Just how incompetent did she have to be?
Samuel narrowed his eyes and stared at Kylie with unblinking eyes. She was really asking for trouble. "You are testing my patience's limits. Have you thought about the repercussions?"
Kylie took a deep breath before she plastered on a smile and said considerately, "I'm working right now. Aren't you supposed to go on a lunch date with your partner now, Mr. Vance?
"You should hurry up and go over. It won't do to keep her waiting."
Samuel sneered subtly when he heard what Kylie said. She wasn't acting like herself, and that meant something wrong was going on here.
"Logan will take her to the restaurant first." Samuel's demeanor was so cold that he was practically devoid of emotion, giving off a noble yet distant air. "Get up. I'll give you a ride home."
Kylie wasn't exactly the most patient person either. However, throwing a temper tantrum wouldn't solve anything.
She took a deep breath, contained her anger, and said, "Thanks, but I came here by myself, and I can go back on my own. I don't need your help, Mr. Vance."
"Kylie Clark!" Samuel enunciated, and the anger in his eyes was unmistakable.
This whole time, Dennis hadn't said a word. All he did was look at them. Now that she stood up, he also rose to his feet and asked, "Kyls, is everything alright? Who is he?"
Kylie grinned helplessly. "I told you about him. He's the man I fell in love with. I have to go. Let's hang out again sometime."
Samuel heard her response to Dennis, and he curled his lips into a sarcastic grin. Love? Would she have urged someone she loved to spend time with another lady?
Once they left the party hall behind, Samuel side-eyed Kylie and said sarcastically, "Your love is the most worthless thing I've ever seen."
Kylie was ridiculed repeatedly. It would be a lie to say that it didn't bother her at all.
She was a person with feelings, too. What was worse, the man ridiculing her was someone she had fallen in love with for several years.
