Simon pondered for a few seconds before deciding to call Samuel. At that moment, Samuel had just gotten into his black Bentley, ready to meet with a business partner from Alcombey.
Just as the car started, his phone rang. He glanced at the flashing name on the screen, then pressed the answer button with his slender fingers and held the phone to his ear.
Simon got straight to the point. "I'm at the police station now, and there's something you should know."
Upon hearing this, Samuel frowned and scoffed lightly. "You're a top lawyer but can't even handle such a small matter?"
Simon nearly choked on his breath. Feeling stifled, he asked, "Do you know who hit your beloved woman?"
"I don't care who did it, but they must pay the price for hitting her," he answered indifferently. "Or do you think there's someone in Seaville more powerful than me?"
If anyone else had said that, Simon would've laughed. But Samuel had all the qualifications to say so. He was the richest and most influential man in Seaville.
"What if they are also one of yours?" Simon asked.
Samuel's eyes darkened slightly, and a suspicion surfaced in his mind instantly. "What do you mean?"
Simon confirmed his suspicion in the next second. "The one who hit her was Kylie. How do you want me to handle this situation between your new flame and old flame?"
Simon had heard a little about Kylie from Sebastian before, but he hadn't paid much attention. However, any woman who could force Samuel into a marriage must be anything but simple.
"She's not my new flame, and Iris isn't my old flame. The only woman in my heart is Iris, and it has always been her." Samuel's voice was firm, and his sharp black eyes narrowed.
"Since that's the case, should we proceed as planned and send her to prison? After all, she's already in the detention room." After a moment, Simon added, "She went in willingly."
"What do you mean?" A shrill, shocked cry sounded through the office, tinged with embarrassment and anger. "Am I just supposed to let those two slaps slide?"
Whatever Samuel said next seemed to ease her down. Her emotions gradually relaxed, and her breathing became steadier.
Since he had other matters to attend to, Samuel soon ended the call. The dial tone beeped in Iris' ear. She clenched the phone tightly and wished she could crush it to let out her anger.
Since the phone contained important information, Simon quickly took it back and turned to the officer. "My client has changed her mind about settling this matter privately. Please release the detainee."
"Ms. Dale, are you sure about this?"
The officer stared at Iris in bewilderment and sneered internally. "A minute ago, she was insisting on sending the other woman to jail, and the next, she changed her mind! Does she think she can play around like this just because she's rich?"
