The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella) novel Chapter 1834

Mirabella's phone buzzed in her pocket. She slowly pulled it out, glancing at the screen as she muttered, "If it's not this mess, there'll be another one waiting for me."

Since every option was a mess, it didn't really matter which one she chose.

After shooting off a quick reply, she thought for a moment, then looked up with a determined glint in her eyes. "Who knows, maybe once I jump in, this mess might just turn into something good?"

Nick's lips twitched slightly. "I'm not kidding around. Ravenshade is complicated. The elders want you to represent the Davis family, betting it’ll make you unpopular. You might end up being the scapegoat."

If anyone else from the Davis family was handling this, the deal might just sail through smoothly.

But sending his sister, who'd never been in the public eye and was seen as someone without status, to sign a major contract would likely stir things up.

Especially with a third party involved in Ravenshade, the whole thing was giving Nick a headache.

"Why don't we swap tasks? I'll tackle the Ravenshade issue," Nick offered. His task was tough too, but at least it seemed a tad easier than what his sister was facing.

"Nick, you should trust your sister," Mirabella said, pointing at herself and adding with a grin, "I'm pretty capable, you know."

Nick was momentarily at a loss for words.

"Oh, by the way, Nick, I'm heading to the hospital later. Want to tag along?" Mirabella switched the topic.

Nick, still wrapped up in worries about the task, hadn’t caught the news that Chester had woken up. He just shook his head, "You go ahead. I've got some stuff to sort out. Keep me posted if anything happens."

Mirabella nodded, tucking her phone away. "Alright."

Jim's expression turned serious. "Ravenshade is a tricky situation. I'll have someone else deal with it. I've asked Grady to get you a different task."

Those old timers must think they can push you around just because I’m not there to stop them.

Mirabella settled into a nearby chair, tempted to prop up her leg but decided against it, remembering her ladylike persona in Chester's presence. So, she sat up straight instead. "No need to change it. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair to the others."

"But it's not fair to you!" Jim had planned to head back to the guild the moment he heard, but Grady had talked him out of it.

Seeing his niece's kindness, Jim felt a stab of guilt.

Damn those old codgers!
