The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella) novel Chapter 1830

"It’s late, Nick. Why are you still up?” Mirabella strolled over, calm and collected as ever.

Nick paused for a moment, then glanced up. “Grady called me about an hour ago.”

Mirabella’s lips twitched slightly.

Her uncle’s over-the-top caution was as clear as day.

Classic.

Nick stood up, keeping it brief. “You should hit the sack early. Tomorrow, I’ll take you to the guild.”

“What’s on the agenda there?” Mirabella asked, a hint of surprise in her voice.

“Picking up a mission.”

Mirabella tilted her head, “Is it the heir assessment mission?”

“Yeah.” Nick’s expression turned a bit serious, but he let out a light sigh, “We’ve got a tough battle ahead.”

Mirabella didn’t seem fazed at all. “Piece of cake.”

Nick opened his mouth, ready to say something, but recalling his sister’s unexpected performance earlier, he clammed up.

He’d only end up looking foolish if he spoke.

Feeling somewhat introspective, Nick headed upstairs.

Mirabella: “...”

**The Next Day**

After breakfast, Nick took Mirabella to the guild.

It wasn’t just him; other staff in the lobby were sneaking glances at her, their intense stares impossible to ignore.

“You probably don’t realize the impact of your little showcase yesterday,” Nick said, both impressed and pleased. “You’ve completely overshadowed Penelope.”

In the Davis family, strength was everything. Whoever was the strongest earned everyone’s respect. Despite Mirabella’s absence in the family, rumors were plenty, and her performance yesterday was nothing short of astonishing.

Her marksmanship alone was unmatched by anyone there. As soon as the assessment wrapped up yesterday, someone shared her shooting video in the group chat. Before Grady could even orchestrate a persona for her, the others had already elevated this Miss Mira to legendary status.

Who needs a crafted persona anymore? Mirabella shoved her hands in her pockets, lazily, “I’ll dial it back next time.”

Next time? Nick felt a mix of emotions; they were from the same parents, yet the difference was stark. Before long, the siblings entered the elevator, heading to the top floor.

In the main conference room, about a dozen people were already seated around a square table — representatives from various regions and members of the elders' council.

Aside from the family’s other two heir candidates, Penelope hadn’t shown up yet. She walked in just as the meeting was about to kick off.
