The assistant shook his head, "I'm not really sure, but even though His Highness later gave the Earl's house a way out, he did speak up for the Davis family."
Murray's face clouded over. Was Lockie trying to cozy up to the Davis family? Had he forgotten that they were already well-connected with other royals? Trying to win them over seemed a bit ridiculous. Still, even though last night's plan fell through, Lockie's actions served as a wake-up call. It was high time to rethink the Earl's alliances.
With this in mind, Murray said, "Get two substantial gifts ready, one for Leon and another for the second prince."
The assistant looked a bit puzzled.
He understood why Leon would get a gift, but the second prince... Suddenly, realization hit him, and his eyes brightened. "The second prince is way stronger than Prince Lockie, and a couple of years back, he was keen on making ties with our Earl's house. I'll get on it right away."
If the Earl's house kept backing Lockie, they'd be heading downhill fast.
This should've been done ages ago.
The assistant quickly left the Earl's house.
Just as he left, another staff member rushed in with urgent news.
"My Lord, the governor's people just delivered this. The Armory has cut all ties with us, and even worse... the Earl's house is permanently blacklisted by them."
The subordinate reported with a shaky voice.
Murray's face went pale, "What did you just say? Repeat that!"
Permanently blacklisted? It was like having his hands tied. The subordinate stole a nervous glance at Murray before repeating, "Not just the Armory. The Davis family has also started buying up your private properties in the neighboring town."
