The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella) novel Chapter 1599

Jim took a deep breath and stepped out of the elevator, his stride steady and composed, revealing nothing unusual. Yet, the assistant following him couldn't help but steal a glance at Jim's back, sensing that today's Keir was a little off from his usual self.

When they reached the door to Mirabella's suite, the assistant instinctively moved to press the doorbell but was halted. Jim adjusted his jacket, turned to the assistant, and asked, "Do I come off as intimidating?"

The assistant, avoiding direct eye contact, cleared his throat and cautiously replied, "You actually seem... friendlier than usual."

"Good," Jim nodded, extending his hand. "Hand me the gift."

The assistant quickly pulled out a neatly wrapped box from his pocket and placed it respectfully in Jim's hand. Just as Jim was about to ring the doorbell, he paused and turned to the assistant again, squinting slightly with a hint of disdain.

"You might scare my niece. Go wait downstairs for me," Jim instructed.

The assistant thought, Keir, it's probably you who'll scare Miss Mira, but held his tongue and simply said, "Alright." He then headed back to the elevator.

Jim refocused, exhaled, and finally pressed the doorbell. Although he'd seen photos of his niece online, this was the first time he would meet her in person. He hoped he wouldn't make a poor impression.

Jim, who had never felt so embarrassed, visibly softened his demeanor. Just as he was debating whether to confirm or deny his intentions, a phone rang, rescuing him from the awkwardness.

With a sigh of relief, Jim took out his phone. Upon seeing the caller ID, his brow furrowed, and a serious look crossed his face. Ignoring the call, he politely told James, "Sorry, wrong room."

With that, he turned and walked away briskly. James watched him leave, contemplating the situation. Wrong room? It didn't quite add up. When James had mentioned Mirabella, the man's reaction wasn't that of someone hearing an unfamiliar name. Maybe he was another member of the Davis family. James pondered this as he closed the door.
