The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella) novel Chapter 1566

Calvin felt a chill creep up from his toes as he faced Mr. Belcher, his voice edged with desperation. "Mr. Belcher, please, just give me one more chance. I'll go apologize to Hank right now."

"It's too late for that," Mr. Belcher replied, a slight curl at the corner of his mouth, his tone utterly devoid of emotion.

Calvin tried to interject, "But the whole Tech Center thing, you know—"

Mr. Belcher cut him off sharply, "Enough, Calvin. Last year, when that plagiarism scandal hit your department, I gave you a shot. Your repeated inability to handle things right has brought this on yourself."

Really? He thought he could just shift the blame?

Mr. Belcher looked away, not even bothering to glance back at Calvin.

Seeing Mr. Belcher's cold demeanor, Calvin realized there was no room for negotiation at all. It wasn't just about the demotion; it was more about Mr. Belcher needing to cut him loose to keep his ties with the Tech Center intact.

Calvin walked out of the office, feeling utterly crushed.

As he reached the elevator, the doors opened perfectly on cue, and he looked up to find Zane standing there.

Calvin paused, a thought crossing his mind. As Zane stepped out of the elevator, Calvin suddenly asked, "Did Mr. Belcher call you over?"

Zane stood tall, feeling a sense of vindication since his student had finally brought him some recognition the day before. "Yeah, why? Is there a problem?"

Calvin tightened his fists at his sides, a storm of emotions brewing in his eyes. So Mr. Belcher had ditched him to promote Zane, huh?

As the elevator doors began to close, Calvin swallowed his bitterness, casually pressing the button beside him, and replied lightly, "No problem."

With that, he stepped into the elevator, his steps a bit quicker than usual.

Zane turned, casting a curious glance at Calvin. Not flaunting his position today, huh?

In the past, Calvin would often strut around like he owned the place because of his department head status.

Halfway through their drive, Mirabella got a call from Collins.

Collins was in Riverdale on a business trip and had brought her something, suggesting they meet up for dinner.

Mirabella didn't turn him down, and they arranged to meet at a restaurant.

When they arrived, Collins was already there. "Hey, little sister."

Mirabella gave a slight nod. "Collins, it's been a while."

Collins smiled, but then his gaze landed on the handsome young man with Mirabella, and he couldn't tear his eyes away. "And who might this be?"

Noticing Collins's expression, like he'd just discovered a hidden gem, Mirabella felt a headache coming on. She could only say, exasperated, "Collins, my brother is tone-deaf."

In other words, don't even think about it.
