The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella) novel Chapter 1452

Mirabella tilted her head, her clear-cut black and white eyes looking towards Nick, "Nick, are you going back to Chester?"

"Uh-huh." Nick's gaze slightly hardened, not saying much more.

Although Chester had specifically instructed him to bring Mirabella back with him, just thinking about his parents... Let alone bringing someone along, he feared that the moment he opened his mouth to speak, he'd be booted out of the house.

Mirabella was still pondering over the unanswered call, feeling inexplicably irritable, but it was too late now. She had to try again tomorrow during the day.

The next day, in the morning.

After breakfast, Mirabella took out her phone and dialed Catherine's number.

The first attempt went unanswered.

On the second try, just before the last rings, it was finally picked up.

Mirabella opened her mouth to speak, but heard a voice from the other end first.

"Are you annoying? Calling my mom because you want to keep scamming our family?"

The one who answered wasn't anyone else but her former foster mother Mandy, whose tone was particularly unpleasant, even carrying a subconscious resentment.

Mirabella frowned but didn't care much about what Mandy said, simply asking with patience, "Where's Catherine?"

"Why should I tell a thief like you?" Mandy scoffed coldly. She still couldn't understand why Catherine decided to give a family heirloom jade to a foster daughter.

It was one thing to give it away, but did that person cherish the gesture? Still, she left the Gilbert family in tatters.

From the moment Mandy answered the call, Mirabella knew it was unlikely she'd get to talk to the old lady today.

She hung up directly.

Mandy, still wanting to say more, heard the sound of the call being disconnected and her already dark expression darkened further.

"Uncle Marian has his share." James pointed out the labels on the packaging to Mirabella, ensuring she didn't get confused and pick the wrong items.

Mirabella crossed her arms, sighing lightly, "Must be nice to be wealthy, so generous."

James raised an eyebrow, "If you want, what's mine is yours."

Mirabella touched her nose, giving him a look, "Stop flirting, please maintain your cool persona."

James smiled, looking towards the main gate, seemingly asking casually, "Are you home alone?"

"Not exactly, Marian has always been at home," Mirabella replied.

Hearing this, James then picked up the cardboard boxes at his feet, "Let's go, I'll help you bring them in."

Mirabella saw through his intentions but didn't call him out.

Together, they entered the house.
