In the rental apartment, Yi Jinli carefully placed Ling Yiran in the chair. He then went to reheat the dishes that had gone cold.

Qin Lianyi noticed Yi Jinli bustling about, which changed her opinion of him. "I used to think it was not good for Yiran to live with a stranger like this but it's obvious that he treats her well.

"If there's someone taking care of my good friend like this, I'll be able to feel relieved as well."

Qin Lianyi returned home while Yi Jinli and Ling Yiran enjoyed a simple dinner. After the meal, Ling Yiran wanted to tidy up but Yi Jinli said, "Leave the tidying up to me. Sister, please don't move too much."

When Yi Jinli was done tidying up, he asked Ling Yiran, "Sister, do you need to go to the bathroom?"

"Huh?" She was momentarily dazed and then her face flushed red.

"Yes or no?" he asked as if it was an extremely normal question.

Her expression was awkward but she ultimately said "yes" quietly.

Thus, he took her in his arms and carried her to the bathroom, then backed out. "Call me when you're done," he said.

"I can't believe he even noticed how long I haven't been to the bathroom for." When Ling Yiran left the bathroom, Yi Jinli carried her to the chair once again.

She could not help herself from saying, "Actually, I can walk. There's a slight bone fracture in only one of my feet but the other is fine."

"The doctor said you should move as little as possible," he said. "Or do you not like me taking care of you like this?"

At night, before going to bed, Yi Jinli prepared a tub of warm water to wash Ling Yiran's feet in. One of her feet was bandaged and could not come into contact with water so he could only rub it lightly.

However, he could wash the other foot.

He cradled her unhurt foot and placed it into the warm water. He gently washed it with his long fingers.

"Sister, you should request a long period of leave from the Sanitation Service Center later. The doctor said you should rest well," Yi Jinli said.

"There's no need to request leave. I can go to work tomorrow. It wouldn't be very convenient for me to apply for leave from my job, especially a long one, and I might be dismissed," she replied awkwardly.
