“Mr. Salvador? Mr. Salvador?”
Clarice tilted her head, smiling warmly. “What are you thinking about so intently? Or… Is there something on my face?”
“No.”
Justin abruptly snapped back to reality, feeling a bit sad.
Little Dove was Justin’s savior. They had fought side by side and escaped death together. Without her, he would not have made it back to Savrow alive, let alone become the president of Salvador Corporation. Nor would he have had the chance to fall in love with Bella.
He could never forget Little Dove’s kindness. However, despite his efforts to find her, she seemed to have vanished into thin air without a trace.
When Grant mentioned that this woman had once worked for Doctor Without Borders in Kridor, a wave of emotion surged within Justin.
His gaze toward her grew increasingly complex.
“If you’re interested in my story, perhaps when you visit Mr. Grant here in Meridan next time, I can share it with you at length,” Clarice said with a gentle smile, her voice soft and sweet.
“You’ve misunderstood, Ms. Amaryllis. Your experiences simply reminded me of an old acquaintance. There’s nothing more to it,” Justin replied coldly, withdrawing his gaze as he elegantly picked up his teacup.
Clarice bit her lower lip.
“Alright, Clarice. My brother has always been a man of few words. Stop teasing him.”
Grant then changed the subject. “Justin, I know you didn’t travel all the way here just to visit me.”
Justin’s throat tightened, “Grant, I...”
Despite her experience handling high-stakes situations alongside Grant, Clarice felt a chill run through her under Justin’s intense scrutiny.
“Justin, please don’t misunderstand Clarice.”
Grant took a sip of tea. “Even if you hadn’t told me, I would’ve known you came for someone from the Thompson family. The only person who could make you this concerned, to the point of traveling so far to seek my help, would only be someone related to Ms. Thompson. Chairman Thompson’s hospitalization was kept secret. However, nothing can really stay hidden in the world of top-tier financiers. Clarice was merely analyzing it logically.”
“Since we’ve come this far, there’s no need for me to hide anything anymore.”
Justin set down his teacup, deliberated for a moment, and then spoke slowly. “I came here because of Chairman Thompson’s illness. I want to bring the medicine back as soon as possible. My beloved is growing more haggard each day worrying about her father. How can I call myself a man if I stand by and do nothing?”
Grant nodded thoughtfully. “I understand. Your feelings for Ms. Thompson really touched me.”
