Hailey blinked rapidly, her lashes fluttering.

What was that supposed to mean? Whether Jonah came back or not had nothing to do with her.

Raindrops slid from his sharp jawline, dripping onto the floor.

Worried he might catch a cold, Hailey quickly said, "You're soaked. I'll get you a towel."

She stepped into the bathroom, returned with a towel, and handed it to him. "Here. Dry off and take a hot shower. You'll get sick like this."

Jonah snatched the towel and flung it to the floor. "Ms. Hailey, why the fake concern now? Are you planning to make a fool of me again?"

Hailey stared at the towel lying on the carpet, stunned. "Mr. Pilsner, what's that supposed to mean? Did something blow up on your date tonight? Why are you acting like this?"

She turned to leave, but Jonah grabbed her arm and yanked her back.

"What are you trying to do? Let go of me!" she snapped, trying to pull free.

He scoffed. "So you do know I had a date. You must've been hoping it went great, maybe even wishing we'd end up in a hotel room. That would've made things easier for you, wouldn't it?"

Hailey looked at him, completely baffled. What on earth was he talking about?

What right did he have to come back and take it out on her like this? What had she ever done to deserve it?

He was the one who went out on a date, yet he came home and took it out on her.

Did he think she was just some easy target?

Hailey's clear gaze fixed on his face as she said, "Mr. Pilsner, if you've got something to say, just say it. If not, then don't bother!"

Jonah yanked her closer. "Was it Hannah who told you to ask for my contact?"

Hailey didn't want to revisit that, but since he'd asked, she answered honestly. "Yes. She asked me to, and I didn't expect you'd actually agree. You're out here adding girls on WhatsApp and going on dates—does your girlfriend know about that?"

"My girlfriend? Who are you talking about?"

"Mr. Pilsner, even if I were seeing multiple guys, you wouldn't be one of them. My life has nothing to do with you!"

She struggled against him. "Let go of me! Don't touch me!"

Something dark sparked in Jonah's eyes, and whatever control he had left broke instantly.

He looked at her defiant expression and the way her lips kept moving, pushing him further.

All he wanted was to shut her up before she said something he couldn't ignore.

Without another word, he lowered his head and kissed her.

Hailey widened her eyes in shock. He just kissed her out of nowhere!

She pressed both hands against his firm chest and shoved him away. "What is wrong with you, Mr. Pilsner? Spending your morning with Joanne, your evening with Hannah, and now what—adding me to the list?"

Jonah let out a cold laugh. "I gave you all my time in bed. Isn't that enough?"
