Hailey forced a smile and said mockingly, "Jonah, you already know the answer. So why even ask? Are you acting ignorant because it's more fun for you that way?"

Jonah muttered in disbelief, "So, because we couldn't get the snow lotus, my face won't recover, and that's why you're leaving me? No, I don't believe you. You told me you didn't care about my face. You said—"

"I was just lying to you, Jonah!"

He stiffened.

He looked at her. "Hailey… is that really how you feel?"
