Jonah stepped forward and stood in front of her. "Ms. Young, I'll be waiting for your thanks."
The implication was clear—her thanks meant spending a night with him.
Hailey's fair face flushed with embarrassment.
Jonah opened the passenger side door. "Ms. Young, get in. I'll take you home."
Hailey slid into the car, and Jonah took the driver's seat. With a press of the accelerator, the luxury car sped away.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the Lambert residence. Hailey unbuckled her seatbelt and said, "Mr. Pilsner, I'll head inside now."
Jonah nodded, reminding her, "Alright, I'll be waiting for your call, Ms. Young. Don't forget our deal."
Hailey quickly exited the car and walked toward the villa. Though she didn't look back, she could feel Jonah's gaze lingering on her.
Inside the house, Miranda and Aileen hurried to greet her. "Hailey, you're home!"
Hailey handed the recorder to Miranda. "Mom, give this to Dad. He'll understand."
Miranda frowned slightly. "Hailey, where did this come from?"
"Mr. Pilsner gave it to me. He's the one who helped us through this mess," Hailey said.
Miranda nodded. "Alright. I'll go give this to your father right away."
After Miranda left, Aileen looked at Hailey with curiosity. "Hailey, did you see Jonah?"
"Why?" Aileen asked, feeling confused.
"Because we've both changed. I'm not the Hailey I used to be, and your brother isn't Declan anymore," Hailey replied.
Aileen looked at her seriously. "Everyone grows up, Hailey. None of us is who we used to be. But as long as the love is still there, that's what matters. If you love Jonah, and Jonah loves you, then you can still be together."
Hailey didn't know how to respond. She wasn't sure if Jonah still loved her.
Within three days, Lambert Group's crisis was completely resolved. The worker was arrested and thrown into jail. The company's name was cleared, and its stock price surged.
James came home beaming. "Hailey, we really owe Mr. Pilsner big time for this. Don't forget to thank him properly on our behalf!"
