Hailey simply said, "No way."
Jonah let out a dry laugh, cupped her face, and kissed her.
Very soon, he tasted her tears—she was crying.
He froze, immediately let go of her, and sat up.
The pain was gone, but Hailey still felt off. She sat up and pulled her clothes back together. Her outfit was a mess, while he only had his belt undone; his pants hadn't even shifted.
Once she was dressed, she got off the bed, ready to leave.
But her wrist was yanked back. Jonah held her, looking up at her. "Do I look disgusting right now?"
Hailey hesitated, about to speak.
However, Jonah let go. "I get it. You can go."
Hailey didn't know what he meant, but she didn't want to talk to him right now. She opened the door and left.
While standing in the hallway, she leaned against the wall and took deep breaths. Everything that just happened in the dark had been a mess…
Then, the door opened. Jonah came out too, now wearing his mask again. He still looked polished, still striking.
Hailey turned and walked away.
Just then, a CEO walked over. "Mr. Pilsner, what took you so long?"
Jonah watched Hailey's silhouette disappear down the corridor. "I went out for a smoke."
The CEO also noticed Hailey. "Mr. Pilsner, isn't that Ms. Hailey?"
Jonah nodded. "Yeah."
"Oh, right. Mr. Pilsner, you're still not married. Plenty of heiresses want to marry you. Someone asked me to find out what type of women you like."
Hailey hadn't gone far, so she heard the question clearly.
Then, another message came from him. "I lost control today. I'm sorry I hurt you. I'm really sorry."
Still, Hailey didn't reply.

Right now, Jonah was back at CY Tech, standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows in the CEO's office. He held his phone, texting Hailey.
He knew she didn't want to see him right now, for she hadn't responded.
Jonah sent another one. "Are you and Lester going to date?"
Still, he didn't get a reply.
He gripped his phone and typed, "I might still be able to fix this face. If I went back to how I used to look… would you still like me…"
But as he typed, Jonah deleted the entire message.
