Melody's expression shifted dramatically.

Hailey looked Melody up and down. "Three years ago, Ewan dumped you, but it seems you've never truly moved on. I can understand that.

"Ewan has been on a winning streak these past few years. Who could be a better choice? Now that he's moved on, you're here tonight, looking all pretty, hoping to win him back. You must feel a little threatened by the models and strippers surrounding him, don't you?"

Melody's expression darkened completely. She hadn't expected Hailey to know all of this.

Hailey sneered coldly. "I haven't gone out of my way to provoke you, so don't come after me. I have no interest in your drama, but if you think you can make me the subject of a joke, I'll make sure the joke's on you instead."

Melody seethed with rage. She had always harbored resentment toward Hailey.

Hailey had everything—a good family and beauty. Most painfully, she was the one Ewan never truly forgot. Despite all the women Ewan had been with in the past three years, Hailey remained the one person he never truly forgot. This fact fueled Melody's deep jealousy.

Clenching her fists, Melody spat, "Hailey, don't be so smug. Ewan and I will get back together."

Hailey smirked. "I'm not your father or your mother. Whether you and Ewan get back together is none of my concern."

Melody was left speechless. She had never won a verbal battle with Hailey. Frustrated, she stomped her foot and stormed off.

Hailey returned to her seat, taking a sip of her cocktail. She had gulped it down too quickly, and now a sharp, spicy sensation stung her throat. It spread quickly, settling in her chest.

As she reached for another drink, Aileen quickly placed her hand on Hailey's.

"Hailey," she called out, looking at her with concern. "Are you thinking about my brother?"

Hailey didn't answer immediately.

Aileen's gaze dimmed. "Three years ago, my brother married another woman and then disappeared. It's been three years, and he's never come back."

When she saw Aileen's somber expression, Hailey quickly composed herself. "Aileen, let's not talk about the past tonight. Come on, let's dance."

The bodyguard asked, "Do you have an invitation?"

Melody hesitated. "No…"

The bodyguard shook his head. "I'm afraid you can't enter. There have already been several attempts by others to sneak in tonight. You'll have to leave."

Melody was furious. She looked up toward Ewan inside, where he was seated on the couch, holding a glass of red wine as he casually watched the strippers dance in front of him.

A bold stripper spun in the air and landed directly in front of him, then casually sat on his lap.

Ewan casually wrapped an arm around her and grinned playfully. "Are you tired from dancing? Why don't you come sit here instead?"

Ewan's wild, carefree demeanor and irresistible charm were too much for any woman to resist.
