Celine froze at the doorway. The last person she expected to see in Adam's ward was Carly.
Carly was sitting on the edge of the bed. Adam, dressed in a hospital gown, lay unconscious.
Her fingers gently brushed across his handsome face in a far too intimate way.
Hailey was stunned. She asked, "Carly, what are you doing here?"
Carly turned and saw them standing at the door.
She immediately stood up and walked straight to Celine. With a smile, she said, "Well, look who decided to show up. Today was supposed to be your big day, right? The wedding registration and all… but Adam's been with me this whole time. You must've waited at city hall the entire day. Honestly, I feel so bad for you."
Hailey looked like she was about to say something, but Celine stopped her.
While looking at Carly, Celine asked, "You were with Adam this entire time?"
"Yeah. We've known each other for years. He's always had a place for me in his heart. You're not… jealous, are you?"
At that moment, Celine understood exactly how Fiona must have felt—love and commitment were fragile things. The moment a third person came between them, everything started to fall apart, especially when that third person was someone you've always seen as a threat.
It didn't matter how strong the bond once was—one outsider was enough to ruin it all.
Celine let out a cold chuckle. "Don't worry. I'm not jealous."
Without another word, she left with an indifferent expression.
Hailey shot Carly a furious glare. "Carly! You really can't help yourself, can you? Sticking your nose in other people's relationships. What a shameless homewrecker!"
Then she spun on her heel and followed Celine out.
Carly was furious. "Hailey! Who the hell are you calling a homewrecker?"
However, they were already gone. Carly was left alone, seething.
The reaction hadn't gone the way she had expected at all. She had pictured Celine breaking down, crying, and maybe even slapping her.
She wanted anything but this calm, detached exit. It was like throwing a punch with everything you had, only to hit nothing but air.
"She saw me in the room with you… then she left. She didn't look happy…"
Of course, she would be upset. Even if she hadn't misunderstood what she saw, any woman would be angry after being stood up at the city hall and then walking in on this.
He had to find Celine and explain everything to her.
"I have to look for her!"
Adam rushed out into the hallway, but he started having a headache again. His head throbbed like it was about to split in two.
He staggered, catching himself against the wall as his breath grew shallow.
Carly hurried after him. "Adam, are you alright? You should rest. Your health comes first!"
However, Adam was already putting the pieces together. He knew something was wrong!
He stared at Carly as suspicion began to burn in his eyes.

this is getting absurd and funnier...so are we gonna some sci-fi alien or time travelling next...author getting dummier... I just want to point out that every single char forgets what the atrocious things carly did and was never punished they practically ignore every deed she'd done and she goes unscathed and starts doing some witchcraft sh*t...

this is so annoying. the happy moments of celine and adam are way too shorter than their problems. this is the kind of story that will make the readers lose their interest. to the author, you are so disappointing. i hope you can give the story the justice it deserves....
